Not to undo the work you've already done, but I find offsetting the magazines' height works better since if they are both at the same height, when the left mag is in the gun, the right mag can impede the dust cover from opening, potentially leading to a malfunction.

There's a lot of images you see posted in bubba threads of Mac-10 lowers put with a wide variety of uppers, with adapters in between. This is often because Mac-10 full auto lowers are the cheapest, so you get abominations of Mac-10 lowers with an AR-15 upper because its the cheapest way to get a full auto "AR".

You are right, which is why I load it in the gun so that the second mag is on the side opposite the dust cover. By the time I have to switch it over the cover will already be open. They are also steel mags in the off chance an empty hits the feed lips or something while ejecting.
