Pictures of soldiers with looted weapons?

iirc in ambush in Niger 2017, one of the soldiers had their vest, helmet, boots, and guns looted off him when they found his body.
Where does the gear go?
I've never seen any pictures that were obvious it was looted

They recovered some of the equipment and the vehicle afterwards. And no, the vehicle wasn't disabled, the insurgents drove off with it after the ambush

Anyone can be temporarily inconvenienced. USA was so short on weapons immediately after Pearl Harbour that they bought 600 000 toy rifles for boot camp training. Imagine being a Marine being deployed fight the japs in 1942 without actually having fired a shot first.

Background?

Russo-Georgian War back in 2008

USMC Humvees that they used in Georgia. They GTFO when the war started and left them behind. Russians captured and took them away and confiscated them as war trophies.

Also...

>The Russian newspaper Izvestia reported that the captured equipment included Global Positioning System equipment used in weapons targeting, identification, friend-or-foe electronic gear and classified radio and reconnaissance equipment.

Interesting

I wonder how many rifles have been lost in firefights. When you think of the thousands and thousands of wounded, there must have been times when a weapon was left behind.

>going to walmart after dark

Many. I think it's even more depressing to think about small arms straight up destroyed in firefights - which is a nontrivial possibility, considering that you're usually pointing a gun at someone who's shooting at you, then you weapon catches a bullet in the furniture or action. If hit by a grenade or IED or other explosives, you and probably your weapon are toast.

I remember the PK-01VS optic (AA battery powered, roughly 6 months of runtime per TXZen's testing on Arfcom) was incredibly sought after and scarce at the time of this photo's publication; now you can get it everywhere on eBay and AKFiles.

Ine heck of a shotgun.

A shitty LMG still beats your 91/30 in firepower.

The US heavily supplied Garands to the Iranians pre-revolution; most likely how it made its way across the border into Iraq or Afghanistan.
