Henschel Hs 123 dive bomber, outdated by the start of WW2 but reliable and simple, didn't require well built airfields and could be operated from short behind the front
comparable to the Soviet Po-2, it was used in the Spanish Civil War and did most of the work that's usually accredited to the Stuka in Poland and France
ground troops liked it and wanted it to stay in production, but the production tools were already scrapped and the Stuka was produced instead
