Probably "e", mainly because of my experience with it. Thing was, way back in school, you'd learn a bunch of shit, and it'd seem so disparate, and while you'd remember it and think it was cool, it was sort of strange that seemingly similar properties would arise in different things.
That all changed, when I learned the definition of sinh and cosh in terms of e. It was then when everything started falling into place piece by piece, before we were being told about it.

So yeah, I suppose it was the fact that it enabled me to figure things out on my own, which is something I really enjoy doing (and it totally wasn't because it also let me sleep through a number of future lessons covering all sorts of stuff I'd already got).
