For low level wageslaving, under-performance will get you what you want. Sure you could run circles around your elderly down syndrome co-workers but you're only gonna get worked harder once they realize you're a hard worker.
Basically if you're in a shitty low level wagecuck job doing something you hate then you should put the absolute minimum effort in to avoid getting fired.

I work part time and get things done fast and correctly and got promoted to a managerial role but still have time for vidya.
The "put in the minimum amount of effort and don't let your boss know you're a hard worker" also applies to white collar jobs most of the time. Basically only bust your ass and put in 100% effort when you're doing something very important and/or something you know upper management is watching closely. For day to day tasks you can get by just doing the bare minimum to keep your manager off your ass. Maybe volunteer once a week to help out somebody on your team or accept an extra task from your manager so your coworkers and manager will make a mental note of you being a good employee but no more than that.
Upper management calls the shots when it comes to bonuses and promotions and as long as you are doing at least enough to avoid getting fired they don't really care about your production for day to day assignments. Working my ass off on routine stuff didn't get me any accolades or recognition from our department manager. He could give a shit less how my production looks as long as it isn't 0. Even my team manager didn't care that much when I worked really hard every day for the first couple years I was on the job. But when I ignored my regular assignments for a few days to go above and beyond to fix a major problem for our department I was rewarded with a promotion and a hefty bonus plus my department manager spent several minutes during a department-wide conference call telling everyone how great I am.

My raises have all been baby ass, minimum raises that the company's policy has to give you despite excellent quarterly and annual reviews, and patient praises. They'll miss me when I'm gone next month. My work ethic was forged in the Marine Corps and the average work ethic here sucks. They definitely take me for granted.
Most new hires aren't cut out for psyche and have quit or request to go to other units.

I'm going EMT. I plan to do three 24hr shifts in a row and go back to school full time the remaining four days a week. At least the vast amounts of overtime will make the paychecks worth it. I'm currently working 4 or 5 days a week (12hr shifts). I've done the math and even before weekend and night shift differential added in I'll be making more than twice the amount of money here. After being in the Corps and working psyche I don't think EMS is gonna phase me.
