I used to explore my city at night as a teen.

Was fun moving through the dark. I was scared at first then I realized I had the same advantage in the dark as anyone who would try and hurt me.

Met random people in the night. Some cool stoners out for a midnight toke or some non crazy homeless.

Stalked random people. Felt like a predator. Knowing they had no idea I was there.

Saw a bunch of couples in the parks fucking.

I only carried my knife for protection

I work for a funeral home and pick up dead people at night, maybe one night I'll pick you up from a car wreck and neither of us will ever know.

When I lived a more rural area I loved to go on walks, but now I'm in an more urban area. I'm afraid to go outside at night by myself, it seems like it's just asking for trouble.

There is a lot of homeless around. They probably wouldn't do anything, but again not really worth the risk.

Since I was around 11. Used to sneak out and walk around because I'm a chronic insomniac. Now I'm 24 and live in a pretty bad area because it's all I can afford right now. I still night walk almost every night, I just have a gun on me at all times now. The only people that hassle me are police. They have nothing better to do than to stop me when I'm out walking and try to harass me. The majority of the time I'm drunk and it's really comfy though. Can't wait to move to the south where I can night walk on the beach next to the ocean

The worst was when I had headphones in and walked past a cop parked with lights off in a walgreens parking lot. I turned down a street I always walk and I see a car pull out in front of me and the cop peel out from walgreens towards me. Cop in front of me has his spotlight on me blinding me screaming at me to put my hands in the air with his gun out pointed at me while the cop behind me I can assume is doing the same. I comply and calmly say that I have my chl and am carrying a concealed firearm (by law I have to or I can get a felony.) The cop behind me freaks out and yells "you have a gun!?" I'm shitting myself waiting for the bullets to hit me. Even now I believe that if I had moved my arms even an inch I would be dead. I try to remain calm and tell them where it is located and the cop in front of me tells me to remain calm so the officer behind me can cuff me. They take my gun off me. Explain that someone just robbed a gas station at gunpoint and I "matched the description." After like 20 minutes of waiting they return my gun and let me go after taking pics of me. I later found out that it was a 6'3 nigger that robbed the place and I'm a 5'10 white guy. I fucking hate police. They are worse than niggers.

Damn that sounds horrible. The cops never screamed at me or pulled guns at me so I can't imagine how scary that must've been.

There's a beach pretty close to where I live, it's super relaxing with all the lights along the lake shore reflecting on the water and slight wind blowing cool, humid air.

Only real trouble was one time walking back to my home I bumped into someones house that was in the middle of being swatted and I guess I kinda startled the guy who was watching the perimeter. It wasn't a big deal though, just a bit spooky.

It's not all that bad, without places streetlights you can see much better in the dark and it's literally safer than more populated areas.

I'm a combat vet and was more worried in that situation than when I was my whole time I was stationed in the Ivory Coast in Africa. American police are terrifying because they can kill people and face no consequences besides paid leave.

My father got pulled over and when we told him there's a pistol in the glove box that i have a CCL for, he fucking drew his glock on us, backed up to his car while aiming, and called for backup.
A very reasonable cop who looked 20 yrs older than the previous once came up with the first cop and asked to see the gun to run serial#. He emptied the mag with his hand and the rookie cop asked if those were "legal bullets". The old cop looked like he wanted to smack the hell out of that fool. In the end we were let off with an apology from old copbro

Did you actually see any combat in africa though? And you having a gun in that situation meant that they could've killed you and said that they saw a weapon on you or something and feared for their lives and have gotten a free vacation for it.

I did. I was in the ivory coast from 2011-2013. I was medically discharged due to being injured by a mortar. got a chest full of shrapnel. And that is why I was so worried. Cops can do whatever the fuck they want and get away with it. I thought for sure they were going to shoot me when when I told them I had a firearm. They would have told the story that I reached for it or some bs and they had no choice but to shoot me.

I live in the country, it'd be pointless since there's already nothing to do or see. No sense in reminding myself that I'm alone.

I was there from 2011-2013 with the French Foreign Legion along with british Un peace keepers. Most of my tour there was just being stationed near some high risk areas that were being threatened. Was in a few shootouts but it was at the 3-500 yard range so it was mostly just a pissing match every time until the mortars came in. That's how I was taken out of action. Typical cracks in the air from hundreds of yards away. Us contacting the Un to find out what they wanted us to do. Got into a mortar pissing match. They got lucky and a mortar hit close enough to our tents that a few of us got hit with shrapnel. I got 4 pieces to the chest, luckily my worst injury from that was one to the lung. Got instant citizenship for France because being a Legionnaire I "shed blood" for them. Did my healing there and then went back to America.

Honestly no. Picture high school except that everyone is a meth addict alcoholic and don't speak English. As the Legion says at the gate. They didn't ask you to come. The Legion is a place for people with no future. If you are American they will most likely send you home before you even take the medical tests. They are envious of Americans. Most of the Legion comes from places of great poverty like Africa/Syria/Ukraine/Russia. They see Americans that try to join as whiny spoiled brats. I was declined the first time I went but there are 2 declines they can give you. One is a "come back in 6 months." and "thanks for coming but fuck off, never come here again." I came back and was accepted. Went to the farm in December. Picture -10 being considered warm in your sleeping area. Also 5 days of the week you got less than 3 hours of sleep. They would wake you up at 2 am and have you crawling through the snow until morning. Also remember that the Legion is greatly underfunded. You are always starving. The Legion says this is part of the discipline but in reality it's because they can't afford to keep us all fed. Basic training is doing manual labor for 6 months until you do the march and get your top. Then you get sent to your secondary training. I got jungle training and was then sent to Africa from South America.

if you got nice sidewalks near you, try night-rollerblading. especially if you're near a college campus and you do it late night on a weekendnight. pretty much no one on campus.
