2 week notice

I recently got a new job and will hear back from them in the following 1~2 weeks.

Should I give my current job a 2 week notice, or just give them a call telling them I'm done? I get that giving 2 week notice is a respect thing, but the job is shit and they have 0 respect for me. However what if I'm applying for another job and they call my old job asking if I gave proper notice?

I really don't want to spend another second in that shithole. Do note, these aren't professional career tier jobs. They're just shit $12/hr warehouse jobs.

Simple. Give them a two week notice but don't tell them where you will be working.

Do you need a manager as a reference in the possible future or do you have a coworker that'd be fine?
If you don't care about a manager as reference just quit

this. if you have nothing to lose just walk out, not worth being somewhere you hate for two more weeks.

I never intended to tell them where I was working at all.

I just don't see the point in giving them the courtesy of 2 weeks when they've fucked me over so many times.

>Do you need a manager as a reference
Most of these jobs never ask for anyone specific as a reference. I listed my friends as being managers on all my applications, and they never mentioned getting any calls from any employer, so I doubt they care to call them. This isnt a professional corporate job.

think thats what im gonna do, thanks

It's illegal not to give them the 2 weeks' notice almost everywhere, they can then fire you for not doing your work which can have many repercussions among other things, like sue you, but do note that they may elect to have security escort you out without going back to your desk instantly as you give the notice.
Also in some places, you must provide a written, signed letter. In others, just verbal is good.

>like sue you
>without going back to your desk
what the fuck.
did you forgot the part where I said this was a shitty warehouse job? I have no desk. this is not a professional corporate job. I've seen 20+ people in the past 6 months flat out stop showing up because the job sucks. I'm pretty sure they didnt get sued.

>fire you for not doing your work which can have many repercussions among other things
The only repercussion I can see is if they decided to contact my old job, which none of these jobs do, because that's a waste of time.

again, this is NOT some salaried office job. This is a blue collar job equivalent to working at mcdonalds.

Tell your boss to go fuck himself and then walk out mid-shift

It's literally the most empowering thing you can do as a wagecuck

>its illegal not to give 2 weeks notice
You are quite literally pulling shit out of your ass.

Even if that were true OP works at a warehouse for min wage not some big corporate salary job. He doesnt have a desk and there are no consequences whatsoever if he stops showing up at work.
youre a retard.

In a "right to work" state employment like this can be terminated by either party at any time for any reason (except discrimination against a protected class). Certain types of salaried employment or contracts can't be terminated in that way, but nobody on r9k has a job that important.

Just do what I did. Just don't show up to work. I got offered a better job and didn't even tell them I was leaving or anything. I just didn't show up and started my new job.

If he's in the USA, he can walk out whenever he fucking feels like it.

That being said, I wouldn't do that if I were you, unless you don't care about your current job being on your resume/work history. 2 weeks is standard practice, and shows that you value professionalism.

That being said, if you don't give a shit about your current job, just bail. It's not illegal; it's not even close to being illegal.

>Written, signed letter
>Sue you

Dude, now you're going full into retardation

I love working warehouse jobs, I hate working customer service jobs where you have to deal with retards, dumb whores and people in general.

If you plan on listing them as a reference I woulf stick it out two more weeks, and in that time look for a new job as well. Otherwise fuck em.

Just give the 2 weeks notice.
Not worth the chance your current boss will be offended and spread bad stories about you to future employers.
Also you can still use them as a reference (even if it's just a shit reference like "he worked here and showed up to work").

Pfft. If you feel like you get no respect and you don't respect the job, blow it off lol. When I was younger I did this many times. You'll never EVER think back and say "gee I sure feel bad about ghosting that shitty job I hated and making my old faggot supervisor pitch in for once!"

Best options are either completely ghost, SHITTY excuse ("sorry I can never come in again something came up") or slowly stop putting in any effort and frequently missing work until you get fired or just full ghost (this is handy because you might Jew a free paycheck.)

When you don't care about your job anymore the ball is really in your court lol it's quite empowering. Personally, I'd give 2 weeks and COMPLETELY half ass it like a smug fuck and call in sick for at least 4 of those days. Fuck ol' shekelstein.

There's nothing wrong with having a work ethic, but save it for a job where you are respected. Don't forget that they didn't hire you to do you a favor, they hired you because they could profit from your labor.

And OP, as a fellow worker, let me give you some advice about work ethic.

Don't work too hard if you every want to make money. They won't give that cushy promotion to the laziest guy in the warehouse, but they wont give it to the hardest worker either. You are too productive to lose as a worker.

I worked with a guy who had been a cart pusher for 14 years and he was the hardest worker in the whole grocery store, he wasn't irresponsible or incompetent, he was a model employee. Of course he had gotten raises because of the union but he would have been paid more if they promoted him to be a manager.

>I recently got a new job and will hear back from them in the following 1~2 weeks.
Do you have it in writing? If it's just verbal, don't give notice at your current place unless you have savings to fall back on.

if you want your final pay check then give notice dude otherwise they'll fuck on you

That's illegal. They have to pay you for all hours worked.

Don't be a dick to your coworkers.

If you don't want to do the full two weeks, just work up to whatever day they have you scheduled for. If you quit without notice, you're going to disrupt someone else's day off plans.

>I worked with a guy who had been a cart pusher for 14 years

That guy was retarded user.

Yes, they still have to pay you but they can make it a hassle. I had a job that made me come back 3 separate times because the manager who had keys to the safe was on "lunch".

I suggest putting in your 2 weeks. I did for my last warehouse job and they ended firing me a week early. I got a nice week long vacation before I started my new job

My Coworkers don't give a fuck about me. They never helped me when I needed it. I don't give 2 shits about them.

How did you not have direct deposit setup?

>I did for my last warehouse job and they ended firing me a week early.
Wait, what? You gave them 2 weeks and then they fired you within that time span? That's fucked up.

Now that I think about it, I can give them my 2 week notice, written, to my manager, and he could completely trash it, fire me and state I never told them anything. Then it looks like I was fired instead of leaving.

On your resume as long if it says currently working

They generally wont call
