I saw it for the first time, a few weeks ago. It was interesting

What is this? I don't recognize the movie

It is the opposite of smoothwalker, that is to say, you could call it... Blade runner. You dig?

>smoothwalker
?

Shit same here. Sucked ass compared to original though

But still good compared to the average normie-movie I guess

What do you think of the original if you've seen it.

>Sucked ass compared to original
Agree to disagree. Original was cool and no doubt the tears in the rain scene was spectacular. But I could actually identify with K, never Deckard.

I have seen it. It was special. The intensity, the new wave noir aesthetic was beautiful. The antagonists unrelenting ruthlessness and obedience to the cause. All leading up to the rain scene, nice.
I think there will be a third but I dont have faith in it desu.

Both movies sucked ass.

They were both cinematography porn without any substance related to the plot or characters.

Fuck, they even had half the characters be robots to hide the horrible dialogue.

>cinematography porn
*cough*
I say Leto can do no wrong.

Great movie. In that "Hate I'm born too soon.." boat too, wish I could be in the era of Replicants so I could work my way up the Replicant Factory corporate ladder high enough to have a custom sex-oriented replicant fashioned in the obnoxious, completely inhuman(e) womanly proportions that turn me on

Not to derail here, but mind posting some type of woman you described

Then you haven't seen Suicide Squad or heard his "rock" band.

You are right ive not watched shit squad nor would I but I thought his character looked cool. I think he is great as is Ryan.

hardsitter 1937?

This is probably my favorite movie of all time even though it came out fairly recently. I don't think any other movie captures isolation and alienation in this very compact and neat yet very grimy and absurd way that this movie does. It's quite different from the original but I appreciated the fact that they were able to maintain the environment and world of the first one but explore it in more emotional ways thematically.

>captures isolation and alienation in this very compact and neat yet very grimy and absurd way
Ever seen Taxi Driver?

Yeah I really liked it too. However I feel like Taxi Driver guy was more unhinged and open about his alienation, it was almost like a spectacle in that movie and it ends with a big shoot out in this kind of big bombastic farewell to the viewer. I liked how in Blade Runner the isolation is much more withdrawn and subdued. It's always present but it never asserts it self, way more moody. And the ending too where he just lies down in the snow all alone, just a silent send off to the viewer that he's done. Both tackle the same themes in unique ways and both are quite good but I personally prefer Blade Runner.

>blade runner doesnt hit you over the head with how isolated K is
True, not the overall theme of the film but you certainly could form and defend a thesis on it serving as a cornerstone. When his wife was destroyed I honestly felt that.

Yeah definitely, I agree that it's a very crucial theme in the movie. Without Joi he wouldn't have been able to forge an empathetic connection with humanity at all.

the main villain chick was qt as fuck

Do you like many movies with lonely dejected men? Ive noticed those are my favorite.
>Midnight Cowboy
>I am Legend
>Oldboy

Yeah, it's kind of hard to relate to most characters so when I see a movie about lonely/isolated people I tend to like the movie more. Sometimes I enjoy the movie even if it's not that good just cause it touches on these types of themes. Midnight Cowboy seems interesting, haven't seen it yet. Here are some off the top of my head:
>Her
really good movie you've probably seen.
>Ex Machina
Decent movie, isolation and lonliness aren't the center but touches on them in a cool way.
>The Best Offer
It's an okay semi-predictable movie about a lonely old art dealer and a young woman. It's not an amazing movie but I dig the themes.

oh and I've also heard that The Lobster touches on similar stuff and is very good. Haven't seen it yet though.

Actually ive been meaning to watch Her for a while now. I have this terrible habit of putting off watching films, i just anticipate not enjoying them so I wont watch. Its a weird habit. Ill watch it soon now. Ex Maxhina was awesome I never thought of the isolation aspect consciously at least it not playing a central role, but thats a great insight. Everyone was lonely in that one. So cold, the ending. The Best offer is now on my list. You probably enjoyed No Country for Old Men too?
m.youtube.com/watch?v=c412hqucHKw
This scene is entirely ad lib, the taxi drove through the set, that is a testament to the merit of acting portrayed in this one. I hope you dont consider this a spoiler just letting you know its well worth a watch.

Definitely watch Her, I really enjoyed it. I actually haven't watch No Country For Old Men, it's been on my list forever but I haven't gotten to it. That clip you posted is really cool, I'll be sure to watch Midnight Cowboy. For some reason it kinda reminded me of The King of Comedy by Scorsese. It's about this delusional loner who larps as a talk show host in his mom's basement and thinks he's gonna be a big time comedian on late night tv. It escalates from there. It's worth a watch.

Oh yes im familiar with Rupert.
>MOOOMMMM
Very good film, Scorseses work shone. Midnight Cowboy is unique, the relationship that takes place in it between the protagonists is unlike anything I can recall. Its really beautiful and I know you will enjoy it.
No Country has aspects of isolation and feelings of despair. Its an awesome shoot em up. Definitely recommend.
Even if you dont watch anime id like to recommend Spirited Away and Jin Roh Wolf Brigade. Two of my all favorite films.

Somewhat this. Both movies are pretty mediocre when it comes to dialogue and plot (except some moments like the end of the first one), but it's the cyberpunk rainy world that hooks everyone in.

Try softstander 90210

I enjoyed it but didn't know what was going on. I liked the pretty colors and stuff

>What is this? I don't recognize the movie
fucking queer

>normie
theyre called normalfags you stupid fuck

I've seen Spirited Away and have been meaning to watch Jin Roh, the animation on that is amazing. I think people even accused the director of rotoscoping because the movement was so life like, I'll definitely give it a watch. I really dig animated movies because they can convey this naive purity that is very difficult to portray in live action imo. Like all of Miyazaki's films have this very melancholic sad undertone that he contrasts with a very pure optimistic innocence in his characters. I find that a lot of anime coming of age movies do this too like Whisper of the Heart. Idk, animated stuff just seems purer to me. I think maybe cause it's all drawings so everything doesn't have to be contextualized irl and that additional layer of abstraction makes it easier to express emotions.

>*cough*
>I say Leto can do no wrong.
kill yourself homo

>I think there will be a third but I dont have faith in it desu.

Both the original and the sequel were flops, who would be retarded enough to fund a third Blade Runner?

I just wish Harrison Ford wasn't in the movie and that he would retire already. His body looks weird and lumpy now. It also could have been shorter.

Pretty good movie though. I found the Pinocchio references hilarious considering the target demo for this movie is the same target demo that would watch Jordan Peterson. Glad I saw it on IMAX.

I never watched Oldboy, is it worth it?
All I know is there's this famous fight scene in a hallway

A fan with money to lose

I dont think that was a bad post simply saying Citizen Kane is heralded because of its abstract and advanced cinematography techniques. Leto is an incredible actor hes never disappointed me.
>rotoscoping
New term, thanks.
>Miyazaki films have this very melancholic sad undertone that he contrasts with a very pure optimistic innocence in his characters
The few ive seen, you hit the nail. I especially appreciate the music, Hisaishi is masterful.
>I think maybe cause it's all drawings so everything doesnt have to be contextualized irl and that additional layer of abstraction makes it easier to express emotions.
Thats a pretty interesting insight. I agree, reminds me of a paper I had to write on Shrek, the thesis iirc was defending how animation directors convey emotion effectively. That was a great movie, the memes as funny as they were hurt the integrity a bit.

>I found the Pinocchio references hilarious considering the target demo for this movie is the same target demo that would watch Jordan Peterson
Not really sure what you are saying here?
If you like violence, good dialogue, and interesting plot you will appreciate Oldboy.

>Not really sure what you are saying here?

There were Pinocchio references throughout the movie? The two movies also had the exact same ending.

I gotta get to bed now. Thanks again for all the recs user, night! or Good Morning, wherever you are.

Why does that contrast with being in the J.P camp? I guess youre implying something about fatherhood?

Same to you, good night, pal.

Jordan Peterson really really loves Pinochio and talks about it in his lectures and constantly uses parts of the story as metaphors.

Dude literally lectured for fucking over 7 hours straight about Pinocchio over three youtube lectures.

Thank you for that. Im not terribly familiar with him but ill watch that. I actually remember one of my lowest points in life I was slaving in a warehouse listening to JRE nonstop just to keep some sanity. One guest he had struck me as very captivating and prophetic. I just realized it was J.P.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=04wyGK6k6HE
I take it you listen to him a lot, what kinds of things have you taken from watching him lecture? How has it made you better if at all?

Unironically my room is clean. JP is pretty chill to watch, I enjoyed "Maps of meaning" more than any of his other lecture series. His book is decent too but it's a lot denser than his lectures are, which is a good and bad thing.

I would see JP as the millennial male equivalent of Tony Robbins. Some people will see him as the second coming of christ, some people will see him as neo-hitler. At his core he's mostly a self-help guru and people who genuinely want to improve themselves often find that the sort of simple obvious advice given by self-help gurus can be motivating and keep their heads clearer.

What I like about Jordan Peterson compared to other gurus is he gives a compelling argument in favor of agnosticism, he's literary and talks a lot about popular culture, he is unafraid to reveal blackpills in his lectures like "You have twice as many female ancestors as male" which most people don't even bring up or know about, he's a bit of a surrogate daddy figure, and the political left is really really bootyblasted by him.

Attached: Tony_Robbins.jpg (1024x683, 485K)

>Tony Robbins.
something always struck me as "off" about that guy. Where are the bodies buried?

That fanbase is too small to justify making another Bladerunner. Both movies are objectively cinematic masterpieces. If they keep making them, their luck will run out and it will ruin the franchise.

I'll also say Jordan Peterson has made me less afraid to be hated by people (Time will tell if that's a good thing?), I started taking significantly better care of my hygiene & health, I became significantly more agnostic and open to religion, I got more interested in reading and now browse /lit/ and went from reading no books to reading about 1-2 a month.

I didn't really solve my no gf and no career issues though which were my biggest issues. I do feel he was a positive influence though.

How old are you? I'd assume too old to use words like interesting to describe things.
