I’m 32 years old
180cm
80 kilos
I’m a lawyer and I’m bored with it
Wanna do mma and be a professional fighter
>can it be done? Advice?
I’m 32 years old
Yes, but not on a professional level.
you can do it for fun but any shot at competing at a high level is over
most combat sports athletes are in their prime from 28-32 because most of them have been doing it for 10 years at this point and they have the experience coupled with the benefits of youth
for you to start now and only hit a high level of knowledge in it at 42 you have no shot
if you'd like to compete in local fights then why not there's really nothing at risk other than your physical health
jwp is only still fighting because he's been fighting since 17 when he lived in thailand
the man is extraordinarily unique among unique individuals
No you are just a wageslave having his midlife crysis
go into finance you stupid cock
>>can it be done?
yes
Advice?
learn:
>wrestling first
>jujitsu second
>muay thai third
Good luck learning to wrestle as an adult. Seriously nobody teaches that; if you're lucky you'll find an MMA school that has some fat ex high school wrestler that teaches on the weekends.
Fpbp
This guy is the truth.
Hahahah this is pretty accurate. He was an alcoholic too
At 32, you won't be able to do anything professionally besides actual jobs. You can improve vastly, but your competition in almost any possible field have been training since child
32 year old. it's over bud.
>Wanna do mma and be a professional fighter
>I wanna do what white trash is doing to make a living bc they were too dumb and poor to get into law school
Pls do it!
And report back after your first full contact spar!
Lmao R u larping?
You're about 15 years late to be a professional fighter, but you can still get all the brain damage you want
>Theoretically
CM Punk did it, and failed miserably. He was also an internationally recognized entertainer.
>Reality
Coming from a semi-professional level fighter, you could become a decent professional by 40 IF you devoted every waking second to training and spent an ungodly amount of money recruiting a team. You couldn’t have a job unless it was part-time and next to your gym. Your team would need a nutritionist, physical therapist, and strength and conditioning coach etc.
Note, by 40, you would be severely hindered competitively simply by age, and would be competing with men in their early 20s who’ve been training since early teens. You wouldn’t be a champion (end of story) as this is the time guys like Wanderlei Silva and Chuck Liddell started getting ko’d regularly.
Pros do not outweigh the cons user.
Not unless you have the greatest natural talent the world has ever seen and you're in great fucking shape already
you know, as someone who is passionate about martial arts and even train kids (i train at two gyms, both under federation, not mcdojos), I am the point at which i not only don't want to compete anymore, I don't see the point of competing. I like full contact sparring, i always incorporate new training methods and techniques from other styles (i do traditional kyokushin, but i also trained in judo, ju jitsu, muay thai and kali).
Still, being 27, MD and having a wife and a job, those are the things that are important to me. Martial arts are my life long hobby, but that's it. Why would you want to go into the cage and die or get stupid? You should have competed when you were 18-24, like the rest of us (only competed as an amateur though). Now, if you wanna start training for the fun of it, go right away. It might even stick to you and you'll learn something useful while working out.
But fighting professionally, in a cage? Like everyone before me said: wake up, stop dreaming.
>32
No. Maybe 22, but is too late. You're in your prime and will spend a lot of time trying to learn than you will be out of it when you're done.
Mighty mouse started training at 26. You could set a new standard if you really fucking go for it. Fuck these haters. Go do it
I’m a 19 yo uni student can it be done?
>Mighty mouse
>started at 26
He was wrestling high school champion, dickwad
Again, MMA and sports in general are a way for underprivileged people to have a shot at a decent life. Maybe, and the chances are like winning the lottery, they get a shot at the top and make some decent money.
On the downside they can get injured to the point of being a cripple or salivating retard or even die.
You have a chance of getting an university degree, which most of these people never had bc of lacking money and / or intellect. Why risk this?
Yea and? He picks everyone apart with his striking so obviously you can learn and get somewhat decent. Just like everything in life you just need to put time into it to get better.
John Wayne Parr is old and still doing it, yes, but he's been doing it for ages.
