Has anyone here been to a starting strength camp or seminar? Are they worth it? What was your experience like ?

my squat form is terrible
it's way behind the rest of my lifts
and I don't know where to start with fixing it
can't position the bar correctly on my back
can't position my hands correctly
can't get deep enough without keeping my feet flat
can't keep my knees in line
What
Get a personal trainer because you're not in a mental state where you can troubleshoot it yourself. I mean, try to find a guy that knows what he's talking about, but there's no better feeling than doing what you're told and not having to worry about it anymore.
different user here
>squat form seems fine
>low compared to other lifts
>hate doing them
Eat more, sleep more, deload if necessary then work way back up
do front squats instead srs
>hate doing them
Then you're doing them properly.
Some ideas.
>Do them first
>Play around with rep ranges
>Add pause squats if you're getting stuck in the hole.
>Add ab wheel rollouts if your core feels weak.
>Go to the smith machine and load up more weight than you usually squat. Then just stand there for like thirty seconds so you can get accustomed to having the weight on your back.
The idea is that your accessories that you do at the end should focus on helping your squat if it's lagging.
I have a home gym so my options aren't super wide
You can unrack weight without a Smith machine, you can front squat, and pause squat with a barbell. You don't need to do an wheel stuff imo since a pause squat should help your core strength. If you have dumbbells you can goblet squat to help feel out the form. Don't make excuses. Squats are hard, but you need to do them, the more weight you put up the more you'll like them
here, pic related is how deep i go. is this good enough?
>inb4 baby weight
>the more weight you put up the more you'll like them
don't lie to the guy
the longer i lift and the more i squat, the more i fucking hate squatting, anything past 405 on my back just feels like complete shit
I meant more ego than anything, lol
Looks fine to me depth wise, you might want to invest in some oly lifting shoes
You are way past good depth (if you plan to compete in PL), that can be holding you back in progress. When the crest of the hip goes past the knee level, then you are gucci. Pic related
yeah but i can ego lift on other more fun things like front squat, ohp, deadlift, weighted chins, etc
oh well you can just use the squat rack instead of a smith machine lol
I was just trying to be considerate of people wanting to actually squat in the squat rack yada yada
You could always find a powerlifting/olympic weightlifting/strongman gym in your city and go there for lessons on your form.
how could it really be this hard? Squating is such a natural form. watch some youtube videos and practice ghost squats
How to sleep more when you cant only do 6 hours a night due to work/uni/gym/studying ?
In this case, how to sleep better?
squatting without a load is natural, squatting with a barbell across your back is purely manmade
the mechanics change massively when you put a bar on the back, because you now have to have a torso angle that keeps the lifter+bar system cg over midfoot
youtube.com
how "natural" a barbell squat is for you depends 100% on your anthropometry, shorter femurs will result in a more upright torso position and a much more natural feeling squat and longer femurs will result in the lifter having a much more horizontal torso with much more stress on the lower back and much more of a folding-lawnchair feeling to their squats
cut back on leisure time
and if it really isn't working out, cut back on WORK time
your health and studies should be your main priorities
how does my post say anything about my mental state?
I've only been lifting for a month and my bench is higher than my squat, deadlift is 2x, rows and OHP are almost on par with my squat
I don't know, I'm pretty tall 6'2" and recovering Auschwitz victim
have a sedentary job
my wrists are bent and I don't have the flexibility to keep them straight, even with a thumbless grip
I can't figure out what groove on my shoulders the bar is supposed to rest in, usually end up with my shoulders more sore than any other body part and sometimes the bar will wiggle around
I've watched Alan Thrall, Rippetoe, Chris Duffin
trying to read Starting Strength but could only find the second edition online, I'm sure not much has changed though
any other good resources to check out?
stop trying to lowbar, just move the bar up a little to a highbar position and then proceed with the program
yeah yeah YNDTP but i did the same thing and ended up with a 365 squat and 500 deadlift at the end of it so highbar will work just fine
and last time I tried high bar my spine was hurting
fuck I just want to squat!!
may have to take this user's advice
Different person. I'm also a squatlet, and my bench press is getting close to my squat. I'm doing lowbar now and have a hard time breaking parallel without going into lumbar flexion at the bottom. Would changing to high bar allow me to squat deeper all other things being equal?
if you buttwink less with a highbar squat it might be a good choice for you
Need advice. Heavy squat makes my knees buckle in and it turns into a good morning, any tips?
I have been to a SS Squat Camp.
Ask me anything.
thats too deep man, you surely are losing all tightness in the hole before coming back up
>too much forward knee travel
Also take off your running shoes.
