Strength training during a cut

as we all know, bulking season is officially over and we should all strive for that summerbody by now.

can we get a definitive answer as to what to do while cutting? do you keep your same training routine just change up the set/rep scheme a bit? do you switch to another routine with less weight/more reps?

tell me Jow Forums, how do you train while cutting?

I do the same but eat less.

You will lose strength and a bit of muscle, it's inevitable

You also cannot handle the same volume on a caloric deficit, so adjust routine accordingly. I usually cut on a mantainance routine

First things first you are going to lose size, muscle and strength. What I do is I switch to a PPL style program, but I keep my heavy compounds in. Used to pull 405 at 220, now i can pull 315 at 196. This is completely normal since you dont have the calories to sustain your energy levels during big lifts. Track your lifts and adjust acordingly and after compounds do high volume isolations. I found that this works for me, you gotta keep track somewhere and adjust accordingly. Good luck, user.

Ppl x3 of X6 ?
How do u split up and which compounds do u do ?

Deadlift one working setx5 pull
Pendlay rows 3 working sets
Lat pulldown 3x10
Biceps 2-3 variations 3x10

Bench 3 working setsx5 push
OHP (clean the weight) 3 working setsx5
Cable flys 3x10
Lateral raises 3x10
Triceps 2-3 variations

Squats 3 working setsx5 legs
Quad extensions 3x10
SLDL 3 working setsx5 or hamstring machine
Donkey calf raises
Farmers walks
Jumping rope cardio

Thats kinda what i do and it works like a charm

bulking winters and cutting summers is a meme

>tfw finally hit 1pl8 OHP and 2pl8 bench
>tfw start cutting
>tfw scared of losing all the progress I made but I'm fat so I need to cut
Am I doing the right thing?

Saved, gonna try x3 days on my cut. Thanks

Holy fuck, what? You should in no way be losing an entire fucking plate off a big lift. 10-15kg at most over the course of 3 months is the worst it should get.

Yes. You will regain those numbers after the cut, but for now think of the easy pussy you will get when you're cut. I'm talking like legit easy pussy, dude.

1) Congrats. I felt like a god a few months ago when I hit 1/2/3/4. Just remember that this is a cycle and it's normal to lower the weight when you're running a deficit. Your personal bests don't change just because you lowered your working weights. Unless your gym is full of freaks, you're still going to be in the top 10% of people there if you're benching 195 and pressing 120.

I lost 30lbs and I'm still in a deficit and those are my lifts. Those are my numbers and I wear them with pride. Abs are 7-10lbs away and I'm feeling great about myself. At least I'm not estatting on a mongolian straw hat knitting invision community board

Not that first guy but You're a fucking retard for dropping an entire pl8 from 30 lbs. You should be able to lift 4 plate at 196 anyways

Ok, today is pull day I'm going to try to put in 1/2 plate on each side and see if I can pull. If it's easy I'll put in a full plate and see if I can pull. I hate and love you fucks at the same time. Will report back if thread is still alive.

I don't actually have 3/4 in the bag tho. I'm scared shitless from both deadlift and squat, if you would hear my knees, I'm pretty sure you would be as well. I try to work them but I don't push myself as hard and one can tell.

Yeah, I do see that I've gotten more muscular, and my gf has commented on it on occasions. I have a considerable amount of belly fat though and I'd like to lose that. Pic related.

Care to give an opinion? How low should I go? 75 kg? (Am 85 currently)

You need to do what I did. I was born with a black square instead of a face and my early life was shit. I couldn't talk/ eat/ breath/ see or hear anything for 20y. Actually I didn't do anything to help it I just fuckin died. Shame really.

Keep intensity, cut volume drastically
You will lose strength no matter what

Also do fast oriented lifestyle
Snake guy has great tutorial on this

Made me kek

>those are my numbers and i wear them with pride
no fuckn way someone just said that
ur a retarded loser lmao, u will always be a dyel

God damn how hard are all your cuts? And how long?
I’m still on noob gains and this terrifies me

I weigh 173 today and pull 395 and I've been cutting from 205. Could barely pull 330 before I started cut. Deadlift continued to go up on cut, just much much slower. IF is GOAT.

user you can pull 4pl8 still. It's a mindset.

Pulled 4 plate. Fuck my life. Guess it really is all in your mind holy shit

Good man. As the original poster who questioned your idiocy, I'm proud of you.

>summertime cutting

REEEE stop generalizing, some of us are just coming out of winter hibernation and gonna be stuffing our faces with protein gainz

Kept training the same and worked on my form. Still making leg and back gains somehow but my chest and shoulders are stalling hard.

I've been doing SL for a few months now, used to be a hungry skeleton I am now 200lbs for 6'3" (previously 154lbs), I'd like to switch to a PPL workout since I want the a e s t h e t i c s and I want to go to the gym every morning.

Is it smart to cut while switching? Am I still going to get results?

no, this is not completely normal, you fucked up big time and have no idea how to train or cut apparently

i went from 575 @ 235 to 565 @ 195, 1000 calorie deficit the whole time

>I found that this works for me

no you didn't, you lost a plate off an already barely intermediate deadlift

Just started cutting with IF and you’re giving me so much hope I love you user semi-homo

My dude, just push forward, and expect to hit some sort of plateau, hard.

When you hit it, just stay there, same sets and reps, until the cut is over, then pick up where you left off.

Lol, why are you sucking in that bloat?
