1 pl8 is 135 lbs or 60 kg. that's one 45 lb plate on each side plus the 45 lb bar. each "pl8" unit of measurement (one plate on either side) adds 90 lbs or 40 kg. so 2 pl8 is 225 lbs and 3 plate is 315 lbs. this really should be undisputed.
no one who deadlifts "4pl8" is saying they're picking up 360 lbs, they say 405, because that's how much weight they are picking up off of the ground.

no. when you put one plate on one side it is assumed you put it on the other side so that the weights are balanced out. that's why you can say 1 pl8 when it really means 1 45 lb plate on each side. it would be redundant to say otherwise as the plate values will always be given in multiples of two, which can be made simpler by just listing how much goes on one side.
imagine if someone says they ohp 1 pl8. does that mean they ohp 45 lbs because the value of the bar equals 1 plate? or if you don't count the bar, is it 90 lbs, where they add 22.5 (which would technically be 6 plates total) lbs on either side?
all in all pl8 increments are just supposed used as a reference and are not the actual weight you are lifting
