Le superfood meme

ITT I want you to redpill me on popular superfoods such as açai berry, maca, spirulina etc

>Which of those are overrated?

>What other foods deserve to be "labeled" as that but aren't?

> Is supplementation of them beneficial or another snake oil?

Peanut butter probably it.

[ Too many calories ] [ poop turns red ] [ good but too many needed ] [ smells like battery acid when juiced to long to f with ] [ great but once again too small ]

[ Beef Broth? great for curbing appetite ] [ GASSY ] [ Great but it's a fucking seasoning not a food ] [ expensive and pita to prepar ] [ small fish and disgusting ]

Ground Beef, Eggs, Coconut Oil > all these

What about EVOlive Oil?

Chia seeds are unironocally a super food
>literally all fiber and protein
>decent amount of nutrients
>super cheap
Everything else is a meme

Great stuff. I have a high fat based diet, so anything like that stuff works great. One side effect never expected is hair is better, and flowing and skin is so much better.

Açai cream is goat for bulking, but that's it. Broccolli is good cause it fills you with minimum calories, and garlic is fucking delicious.

Sardines, avocados, eggs and liver are real superfoods

Choloate is a healthy snack, cacao is a healthy additive to smoothies, shakes etc.

Beets are very high in nitrates, increasing nitric oxide in your blood, relaxing your blood vessels. Healthy and can increase performance, both in your training and theoretically in the bed too.

Blueberries, especially "wild" ones that are slammer and has dark blue flesh too, are very high in anti oxidants. Same for acai. Get whichever is cheaper.

Don't know much about spirulina.

Is that rose hip? if so, insanely high in vit C.

Green tea? Very healthy, basically leafy greens soup. Try to avoid from china though since they just recently stopped using lead in their gas, so the soil is still contaminated. India and japan is fine.

Broccoli is awesome, great overall micro nutrient profile, and the veggie highest in sulforaphane, very potent anti-cancer compound.

Garlic is great and actually helps the body get rid of lead.

Healthy fruit.

Fish can be contaminated with BPA's and heavy metals, even farmed, better get DHA/EPA through supplements and consume good amounts of ALA through nuts and seeds.

Clean sardines could be, small amounts of liver too but eggs are certainly not. If a food eaten every day increases your risk of some of the most common killers then it can't be a "superfood".

>If a food eaten every day increases your risk of some of the most common killers then it can't be a "superfood".
So eggs are a superfood then

Based Greger poster

It doesn't increase your risk of nothing. This is all broscience.

Not according to the science.

good goy, keep eating those whole grains

I can't tell if you're a shill or a masterbaiter, but you always post this everytime eggs are mentioned.

Tell us the truth user, did eggs steal your gf?

Gib link that shits on whole grains with good science. Whole grains have fiber and many minerals...Great source of energy as they are slowly absorbed...

Anything that isn’t empty garbage junk food can be marketed as a “superfood”. They just hype up its nutritional content and (this is the key) any and all scientific research that makes it possibly sound good. One study shows a slight, possibly correlation with X food and Y condition or disease? Boom, every women’s magazine and wannabe Dr Oz health shill will be jamming it down our necks. It’s pure marketing, and mostly lies.

i didnt know that about beef broth and appetite. are there any other foods/drinks that curb appetite?

Never given me any trouble. I eat whole grains every day. I guess I have the stronger wheat-eater genetics

>Never given me any trouble.
That you know of.

Hmmm well I work 40+ hrs a week, exercise daily, am in-shape, low body fat. Where's the problem, Doctor???

In your digestive tract.

>Fish can be contaminated with BPA's and heavy metals, even farmed, better get DHA/EPA through supplements and consume good amounts of ALA through nuts and seeds.
Also sardines and other small fish are not very contaminated with heavy metals. Also that DHA and EPA comes from fish as well, so supplementing is not really an alternative.

I have big, soft bowel movements. No gut pain or discomfort...
You know that entire generations and peasant populations lived off of gluten-based calories? The ancient middle east, ancient egypt, and even the roman army...You've been DUPED into thinking "wheat bad : - ((( "

Redpill me on:
>Camu Camu
>Wheatgrass
>Bee Pollen
>Grape Seeds

>he thinks today's wheat is the same as the wheat of 2000 years ago
Lel

Literally all memes. They do nothing

Too much fiber and contains transfats.

I want to eat onions and garlic before bedtime.
How to reduce garlic breath?

>too much fiber
>trace amount of trans fat
Literal momscience

Super food doesn't have to mean it's the most exotic shit they can shill to you. Kiwis are already a fucking super food. Eat them with the skin and you've got 130% your daily vitamin C recommendation and also 5g of fiber. In fact there are many common fruits and vegetables I'd consider super foods just because they pack so many nutrients in so few calories. Seriously, try eating some fruits and veggies, no fucking acai berry or kale needed.

Don't knock kale, now! Has over 100% of your daily vitamin A and C in a serving. Full of nitrates that lower blood pressure and increase athleticism

>contains transfats
>0.14g/100g
wow

Do you consume dairy at all? Because whole milk has the same amount of trans fats and butter has about 24x as much.

pollen's high in protein and tastes interesting, but it's too expensive to use as a supplement. if you found it on the cheap, it isn't pollen. it's insanely laborious to harvest and it isn't actually pollen, just crunchy stuff that's flavoured like it.

the rest are memescience, there isn't anything to them

Tbh I've never done my research on kale but that actually sounds great. I just wanted to bring some examples for overhyped foods that've been shilled in the past.

Kale is pretty cheap, too. Doesn't have to be organic. Other good options are spinach, mustard greens, collard greens, arugula, cilantro. Even if you are on some kind of zero-carb keto diet, you can't go wrong with green leafy vegetables. Especially if you want to be athletic

>2% milk has 0,1g/100g trans fat
>chia has more
>literally cucking yourself
And no, I don't drink milk, or eat butter.

>In fact there are many common fruits and vegetables I'd consider super foods just because they pack so many nutrients in so few calories.
>no fucking acai berry or kale needed

So...kale then? Shit is ridiculously cheap unless you're buying it at Whole Foods and it has a ton of really good nutrients. I get that it's been elevated a lot, but it is super common (at least here in the South) and it's great for you

Post body, momscience faggot. I guarantee that I'm thinner than you

kale has too much vitamin A.

Your body regulates vitamin A so that you don't actually absorb toxic amounts

Unfortunately, vitamin A toxicity can happen, especially if you're eating liver a lot. But the required doses are so high and have to be consumed in so many days in a row, it's practically impossible unless you really try to.

cacao powder has too many calories
ishigidigy.
I just buy it by the kg and put 1 spoon in oats almost every single day. almost 0 calories for all the benefits

hypervitaminosis A is real, only 100g of kale daily can lead to vitamin A toxicity

while that is true and I agree the wheat used today is absolute cancer there are still whole grains that are fine to eat. oats, spelta, buckwheat

bee pollen helped me get rid of my hay fever

>superfoods

the memes have taken over

calm your autism, it's just an easy way to refer to a food with high nutrient density.

>calm your autism, it's just an easy way to refer to a food with high nutrient density.

the irony

Attached: 2.png (1089x1079, 1.31M)

egg is the only true super food.

You don't kill anything
They are super nutritive
it's super cheap even if you choose the free range organic kind

plus you could probably survive a few year eating only eggs.

your ass wouldn't last a week on acai, you would die from diarrhea

Attached: egg_is_life.jpg (930x619, 49K)

dumbass.

>no potatoes

That's how I know you're a hipster fagget

Attached: IMG_3005.png (219x375, 10K)

There are non-fish sources, derived from algea. Bit more expensive... Though I'm not sure it matters, I'm fairly sure any kind of DHA/EPA supplement isn't going to have heavy metals in it regardless of source. Buuut just to be on the safe side I get the algea one.

Very expemsive placebos

Not with plant vitamin A, your body can regulate absorbtion and conversion. The animal sourced pre-formed vitamin A can't be regulated in absorbtion and no conversion is needed so high doses can indeed lead to hypervitaminosis A.

Difference is, who the fuck eats 100g chia seeds and who the fuck only drinks 100g milk? That's not even half a glass, so in practice you would get loads more even from low fat milk.

Take the /deenz/ pill, user. Loads of healthy shit in those little fish. Plus they are relatively cheap.
