The more I learn the more I agree. The world never recovered from the trauma of the world wars. They occurred at the same time as increasing industrialization. How, you might ask?
Men learned how to be men from their fathers. Since the hunter gatherer era, boys would follow their fathers to the field, hunting, farming, working. Seeing how to interact and be a man. How to enjoy life, how to treat others.
Industrialization changed that. Now there's a harsh separation and most 'education' is breaking youth's spirits to be better drones.
The world wars cut huge swathes through the generations. Much knowledge and 'how to live' culture lost.
Add the constant overwhelming changes and it's no surprise shit is so weird lately.
Our saving grace is the sturdy adaptability of the human genes. Despite the bizarre manifestations currently winning the culture war, in the long term humans will be fine and will bounce back.

I've spoken with teachers who have said the change was QUICK and DRASTIC from one group to the next, as if they are from two different worlds. There is like a cutoff point from whether or not you grew up in the digital age that completely altered how people function.
I'm mid-Gen X, and I have 5 screens in front of me right now, plus my phone. And if I brought my Android tablet in here, I could bring up a 7th and use it for something, too.
