Just misinformation I guess, your bench will never progress as fast or as easy as your deadlift, but people don't really grasp just how much harder it is to improve in comparison to easy lifts like squats and dead lifts.

Huh, I knew that bench progressed slower but I thought that was just because adding 5% to your bench is a lot less that 5% to deadlift. I just kinda assumed that they all progressed at the same rate. But I guess that's wrong.

lol nah, very early on maybe you'll get that, but novice gains really are novice gains. Just because you're "weak" after 6 months of lifting, doesn't really mean you're a rank novice.

Its not something you can maintain, which is why theres such a gap between a 140kg bench presser and a 180kg bench presser in size and time spent lifting.

That’s the dilemma I face every time I go to the meet.

Do I go to the IPF meet, keeping my mouth firmly shut, and pray no one thinks I look too roidy? Or do I go to the lolfed meet, avoid eye contact, and pray no one thinks my squat is too deep?

At a meet, a male judge once followed me backstage and began behaving in a way I found threatening, only stopping when I essentially waved a triple ply at him and indicated that I was lolfedder. Thus assured that I was a “real powerlifter,” he apologized and left. Meet administration never did a thing, as far as I know.

I’ve had gobs of wet toilet paper thrown at me at ipf weighins. I’ve been spat on. I’ve been called a faggot, a lolfedder, disgusting, everything that's wrong with the sport in ipf backstage area. A few times, I’ve had competitors and judges behave as though they might be about to assault me backstage.

I participate in lolfeds and ipf meets. I don’t want to be in the lolfeds in the first place, but I don’t feel safe lifting without roids either.

It seems like every week there’s a new story on the news of a tranfed person beaten or redlighted or murdered. About a year ago, there was a case that did not get much media attention where an ipf shw in my area was viciously redlighted by judges who decided he “looked like a lolfedder.”

I don’t want to be spat on, insulted, redlighted, or physically attacked when I go to the meet. I just want to squat, bench, deadlift, and go about my day.

In this political climate, neither the ipf nor lolfed meets are safe for people who look like me, whether or not they are transfedders. Just looking like a stereotypical transfed person is potentially deadly.

Ideally, I’d be able to go to ipf meets, and translolfedders would be able to go to lolfed meets and feel safe doing it. That’s my daydream world. Right now, I’d just like to be able to focus on increasing my wilks and not on whether I might soon be in danger. I don’t want to become a statistic.

I would like to reliably have a safe meet option.

On the other hand when I deloaded to squat with knees tracking over foot all the time and was doing "proper" squats the knees started to hurt.

I know right? But still. I used to squat with knees caving in on ascent. No pain whatsoever. No issues. Then I hit 4 plate for reps and got scared that the weight is now heavy enough to fuck my knees up.

So I decided to deload 10kg and squat with perfect form, knees tracking in line with feet.

That's when my knees started hurting.

So I guess I'll just squat "wrong" for as long as my knees don't hurt.

I barely go below parallel. I squat lowbar.

And won't ankle pronation automatically mean knee pronation? But yeah my ankles definitely cave in. I lose the arch in my feet when I squat, the feet themselves pronate/cave in visibly like pic related. I'm also flat-footed and generally have pronating knees. When I'm standing with my knees and feet together I still can stick my finger between my thighs right under the pelvis.

When I squat my knees get closest to each other at the sticking point. I squat down, hit the depth, right before starting the ascent the feet and ankles pronate, at the sticking point my knees rapidly cave in briefly, then after the sticking point I can consciously drive them out a lot or they go out a bit if I forget about them, doesn't matter either way, no pain there. Squatting highbar AND in lifting shoes while letting knees cave in causes pain though.

Also when I make an effort to squat correctly and keep the knees out, I spend a lot of time grinding out of the sticking point. And when I let the knees cave in there, I just fly through it fast.

Sumo isn't easier for everyone and isn't the deadlift equivalent of slapping a slingshot on and getting instant gains like people make it out to be.

I'd do RDL's or SLDL's on a different day if you're capable of doing those pain free.
