Wha the fukkk? Nobody warned me about this
Mehdi types like a redditor

"Reddit spacing" is the most retarded newfag meme ever. Kys.
>Tfw tried learning to lift through Stronglifts website.
Stronglifts is a good workout but Mehdi's guide for lifts are shit.
"reddit spacing" is how Mehdi typed in the pic related, but most people here don't realize that. You'll get called out for using returns in general any more
'Reddit spacing'
Has been used here
Since before Reddit existed
I don't understand why reading those sentences typed in that way makes me so uneasy
this.
I'm even a newfag by a lot of people's standards (been around since 2008) and plenty of posters broke up their paragraphs with spacing for readability
>I'm even a newfag by a lot of people's standards (been around since 2008)
I was going to say 2008 should be fine at this point, but then I remembered that's post-chanology, so yeah.
>and plenty of posters broke up their paragraphs with spacing for readability
But yes, this. Most newfags still want to act like Jow Forums is still their secrut klub and that they're somehow special for using this website over another. The best days were when Jow Forums didn't have a massive inferiority complex and didn't need to shit on le reddit boogeyman every chance they got to make themselves feel good.
I'm guessing at some point spaces between words will be deemed "reddit spacing."
lolfoundthenewfagbacktoplebbitpls
Mehdi and his fucking squats. "Dips are good for your chest BUT FOCUS ON UR SKWATS"
"Oh you want bigger arms? Squats."
Is Mehdi even still around?
It's been years since I've received an email or something.
trump speaks like a redditspacer
>LE REDDIT SPACING XD XDD
Spacing makes posts easier to read, fuck you.
Get a life and stop living by Jow Forums
"reddit spacing" definitely has been here since before gamergate and the election caused the large migration of redditors we've seen in recent years, but I welcome the meme regardless. People who "reddit space" are usually idiots who don't know how to string their thoughts together into coherent paragraphs, so they end up
writing
everything
on
different
lines. It's basically a way to shame retards by associating them with a shitty website, it ultimately improves the post quality of Jow Forums. Learn how to write an actual paragraph rather than rambling out single line twitter replies to everything you see and maybe people will stop giving you shit.
I understand this, but any time I see the reddit spacing I think more the spacing of an email you might receive at work. Frequently, especially between businesses, things will be simple and cut into lines for quick readability.
>implying there aren't times where it's a valid stylistic choice to add line breaks to a post that people call out as reddit spacing
I agree with you that it's misused a lot though (still nowhere near as autistic as line-by-line inline replies). Personally it's a habit carried over from IRC days where I would respond with my opinion or answer a question and then type up context/reasoning after I finished thinking. Its usage is so unrelated to reddit that calling it reddit spacing isn't very useful since it's just going to devolve into arguing whether it is or isn't "reddit", and half the time it's just some newfag without real arguments saying it.
I mean you're not going to have a paragraph's worth of shit to say every post, but it's pretty damn annoying when someone is throwing out 5 sentence fragments on 5 different lines when they could just as easily write a coherent, flowing paragraph to explain their thoughts. To me it seems really indicative of the reoccurring theme in our society of people losing the ability to concentrate and needing constant stimulus. Rather than taking the time to do something thorough and right, people are instinctively just doing it in a more and more fragmented way.
Line-by-line quote replies can be good when you actually have something to say about whatever it is your quoting, but the problem is when you're just doing it to take what's being quoted out of context and replying to it in little twitter blurbs, which really isn't all that different from "reddit spacing". In fact I think that's more closer to a real reddit spacing that what is generally called "reddit spacing" in the first place. Regardless, I definitely think there's been a noticeable dip in post quality and that what's generally accused of being "reddit spacing" has become more prevalent. When I look at my folders full of multi-paragraph screencaps, I realize that almost all of them are from years ago, and that I really don't have any super thorough, informative post screencaps from the last couple of years.
>it ultimately improves the post quality of Jow Forums
this
No it doesn't, it just adds useless "hurr go back to le plebbit faggot" comments and useless threads like this one that another thread dies for. Meanwhile the other people continue posting the way they do because they're normal non-autistic people who don't give a fuck.
It really stings as a comment and stops people doing it, encouraging them to think.
No it doesn't.
>tfw when you constantly use "le reddit spacing" to make your post easier to read
Please tell me you don’t believe this.
