How intense should I be using these things? My heart beats faster on it sure, but not so much that I feel short of breath. Some sort of intermittent sprinting? What works best for heart power?
How intense should I be using these things? My heart beats faster on it sure...
Those are useless, run or (even better) swim instead.
Why is biking useless? Easier on the joints than running
It can't be totally useless. It does stuff, I'm mostly concerned with cardio not muscle endurance out of it.
>A Spanish study of top triathletes found those who cover more than 186 miles (300 km) a week on their bikes have less than 4% normal looking sperm, where normal adult males would be expected to have from 15% to 20%
what the fuck
biking is one of the most demanding sports for the cardiorespiratory system.
it requires your heart to constantly bomb oxygen-rich blood to the farthest members from it.
if you are starting, keep a moderate rythm, but maintain the effort for longer.
as you feel more comfortable at the end of each session, start doing 20 sec sprints among the session. give it at least 3 minutes between each round and when you go slower, try to keep the same pace you are used to.
after you feel more comfortable, push for 40 sec sprint sessions, and so and so forth.
you'll eventually reach a point where you feel your cardiorespiratory system could keep the sessions way longer than the rest of your body can.
I'm not a scientist but I would say that this probably means that smashing your balls against a bike seat riding 150 miles+ per week probably is not good for your sperm production.
>reach a point where you feel your cardiorespiratory system could keep the sessions way longer than the rest of your body can.
That's what I'm aiming for. Thanks for the advice.
okay I'm intrigued. I'm an undisciplined hobby-lifter with dogshit cardio and high bodyfat. How long would one expect to stick with cycling before seeing significant cardio gains?
Also, as a general question for the non-fatasses among us: how does good cardio benefit you in your normal life? What does it feel like? It's been so long since I've been in good shape that I honestly can't remember lol.
For the goals you want to achieve, like another user said, the best sports are running and swimming. Try it and you will see for yourself.
Do you often feel your hear pounding when going up a flight of stairs or your body saying fuck that to walking for longer than 20 minutes? Good cardio sorts that out. I dunno, I still am a fat fuck fuck but I can run for like 40 minutes now without stopping and it feels really good to be able to do that. And each week you get to make progression doing it. You just feel a lot better in general knowing that when you have to do something pretty physical for a period of time your heart won't fuck it up for you. Hell it improves everything, your breathing your mindstate your confidence. I love it
try to maximize your heart rate and ride for an hour.
I can hit mid 180s as a peak. Hopefully will get into 190s soon.
Running is horrific on the joints tho
cardio is like a reverse addiction process. it takes a lot of doses to get addicted.
dude wtf I am a 37 yr old fat fuck sitting at almost 25% body fat and I can hold 190 for almost 20 minutes.
You just suck
this never happened
sounds kind of dull, doa 15 on 15 off 30 on 30 off 45 on 45 off 60 on 60 off take an extra minute off then count it down.. its a tough 15-20 minute interval.
or 30 seconds fast as possible low resistance, then 30 cranked resistance standing on the pedals as fast as possible then 60 second off do this 3 times then reverse it 30 high resistance and 30 low
give it 2 months, try and work up to 40-50 mile rides with maybe 125-150 miles a week.
It will allow you to basically eat whatever you want, feel faster and you will also lose weight/body fat too. I have had some family issues prevent me from riding as much as I like lately so I got a little fat and desu being 20lbs heavier sucks. When I was in good shape I used to basically run all day and I cant wait to get back to that feeling.
I wasnt bullshitting, go hit a 5 mile 5-7% hill a few times and you will see what I mean
call it the way want, spin it up, change it. the basic idea is the same: increase your cardio system the most optimal way, through increased O2 demand training
its not useless,
only a retarded faggot would speak in such hyperbole
This shit felt a lot better than what I was doing before. I think I was getting too used to it so trying to sprint for too many minutes and getting completely burned out and lagging on the rest. This got my heart pumping throughout.
Looks a lot harder for me right now, but I'll try to work up to that. I do about 35 minutes, so doing so many sprints in such a short time I'll probably find too much at this moment.
This is true. I used to do one hour of cycling every single day, and even though I would do only one hour I felt like I could go on for hours. I usually keep my heart rate around 150. The longest I ever went was two hours.
Cycling is GOAT
I use a cycle for my hit im making gains. I do 4 minutes of 20 on 10 off. I started at level 15, im up to level 18 now.
their sperm were jacked. also source pls
Why are you using those gay ass fucking things? Just run outside. The world has blessed you with GLORIOUS NATURE, fucking explore it while making some sweet cardiovascular gains and brain gains!
Do you plan to do 186 miles ? Marathon-type of training ages athletes fast because it's an extreme stress on the body.
Most beneficial actions in moderation become detrimental in excess.
Do not listen to anyone who says they are useless. This is a great way to get some cardio in as other posters have mentioned. I would add that if you are already lifting, you should aim to hit at least 85 rpm, to make it more of an aerobic workout then a strength one and preserve healthy knees.
Only if you do it wrong.
Anyone else here cycle competitively? If so, these spin bikes are the absolute best place to mob the lesser athletes. I use the one at my university's gym sometimes. Surely I look ridiculous but in an impressive way. Feels great to hop on one of these next to some lard ass, get into a TT position and just hammer it for an hour or so.
