Is PPL the ultimate routine for 30 year olds in the gym?
Is PPL the ultimate routine for 30 year olds in the gym?
god i love tessa hhnnngggg
Why can't all women look exactly like her? Why god why?
No PPL sucks dick. 6 days a week in the gym for 2x muscle frequency? What a waste of time. Unless you're a NEET or just really enjoy physically being in the gym.
You can get the same or better results with 4x a week upper/lower, 2-3x a week fullbody, or 4x a week push/pull
why the fuck would you separate your legs and pull like that. doesn't make any sense
because then the world would be boring
Jow Forums really needs to find a bunch of people to start going to the gym. Put some of them on a 3x/week PPL (PxPxLxx), some of them on SS, and some of them on a 3x/week full body. Then collect the data and figure this out once and for all.
I'm currently doing PxPxLxx, but I'm also cutting and doing some cardio, so I didn't want a ton of lifting volume. That being said, my lifts are steadily increasing and especially my arms and shoulders are visibly larger. So it's working for me for now. Once I hit my bf% goal, I'll stop my cut, start bulking, and I'll likely lift 5-6x/week for a while and see how that works for me.
>3x a week PPL
this is like the worst option
such low frequency. literally only hitting each muscle group 4x a month
Home gym PPLer here. I am also 30.
I wouldn’t be running PPL if I had to drive to the gym 6 days a week. I stuck to shit like Full Body and Upper/Lower when I didn’t have a home gym.
Wow it’s like some of us have done UL, PP, PPL, SS, 531, Brosplits, etc... and then we give advice and nobody listens...
Right, because I'm also 1) low on energy due to a cut, and 2) using energy for other things like cardio and yoga. Lifting is part of what I'm doing, but not all of it. If I were only lifting, I'd agree with you. And I'm seeing benefits from everything I'm doing.
I do PPLPPxx just ending my third week on. I've seen more upper body growth in 3 weeks than in 3 months with SL 5x5. So there's your answer. SL was only good to get my lift numbers up to par. (Bench bw, sq 1.5 and deadlift 1.5x bw.) Now I'm making GAINZ with this routine
It still doesn't make any sense. You can hit every muscle group more frequently if you just do full body.
If you are not woman pls leave Jow Forums forever.
You can't take 90% of what I read here as unbiased and/or truthful. Half of it is out-and-out trolling, another large percentage is people just being difficult and contrary, and a bunch of people are idiots. Not exactly what I'd say is an unbiased sample. Of course, such a study wouldn't even be fair, as a lot of people would lie, tweak their stats, have bad form leading to a lack of progression, etc. We'd have to have trainers focusing on their workouts, etc.
We know that all these programs work, to a greater or lesser degree. Some focus on this or that, and some help people fit their training into their schedules better. Some are aesthetics-focused, and some are strength-focused. But saying "3x a week PPL sucks and won't do anything" is patently wrong, and I'm proof of it. It works for me, just like SS or UL would work for someone else.
It's all about goals.
And we can all agree that Crossfit is stupid. So I think we're all on the same page after all.
I did SL5x5, U/L, now PPL. Lifts aren't progressing much, but i look somewhat better in shoulders, arms and back.
Chest is still lagging.

Why not - PPLPPxx?
Seriously, just limit the number of exercises to 4 so you can accommodate your cardio as well.
who here is rocking 5/3/1? i absolutely love its simplicity (and the fact that you get to go all out on a 1RM once a month)
Doing ULxPPL and working fine, but then again I just turned 22 years old. Don't think it matters though since my test is of a 30+ year old male( 402ng/ml)
PHUL is the ideal 30+ year old routine.
That's actually what I was thinking I would do once I hit my bf%; my legs are fine, and one day would be plenty, I'd think.
I just started 5/3/1. I'm running the novice variation where you double up your lifts and go 3 or 4 times a week. Never used a calculator so much in my life, though.
Same here, Stronglifts helped my legs get very strong but my chest is still weak as shit compared to the rest of my body since you barely hit chest at all with that routine.
