Deadlifts and Squats are great exercises but honestly if you mess up even just once with form you can severely fuck your shit up. Not worth it, especially for a guy like him who is mainly an actor and has no real reason to be lifting heavy. he's not going to risk getting injured and miss out on acting roles etc.

Weightlifting is safe overall, that's all that study proves. But you are way more likely to get hurt doing heavy deadlifts than doing bicep curls.

We all know that you don't need to do one single deadlift to have a wide and defined back, but lift heavy shit is fun as fuck and you get stronger at every other exercise, it makes literally no sense to not doing deadlifts if you want to progress in ever other back and leg exercise.

I don’t get delayed onset muscle soreness unless I do a lift I haven’t done in a long time. You shouldn’t be getting DOMS if you’re lifting with decent frequency and not randomly introducing new lifts out of nowhere that you haven’t done for a long time.
