We have a lot of people at my gym who just look up the workout of the day (which is free) and do it themselves. I don't think you need to pay $30/class to exercise. For context, my gym is $180 a month, so if you do CrossFit, it's still cheaper even if you only workout twice a week.

CrossFit is LITERALLY a meme. Photos like that are what happens in a CrossFit class, it has little to do with lifting. Everyone tries super hard to look like they're having fun in a social setting with cool people so they can post the pic to their Insta.

I would also like to add that it is extremely irritating that the crossfit community feels the need to use a bunch of made-up, inane terms and abbreviations for things that are either already named or do not need to be named (either because it is insignificant or should not exist). Hearing someone actually use "WoD, box, chest 2 bar, toes 2 bar, etc" just rubs me the wrong way. The obssesion with terminology is representative of the cult of crossfit as a whole. The goal of crossfit is to create an insular community, not to be a better athlete or a healthier human being.

to be fair there is nothing inherently wrong with this, and endurance is an important aspect of fitness which should be trained. The rest of your critiques are valid, though

True crossfit doesn't work, and everyone knows it.
You only make progress within true crossfit for 5-9 months, then literally everyone who plateaus hops on some kind of program. Not even the games athletes do true crossfit.

realistically all you need is a 2-3x a week strength program and some kind of cardio 3-4x a week

Premium gyms are there to keep plebs out and let you rub shoulders with other elites. Literally bars entry with the fee so poor faggots like you don't take up space in my squat rack.
