Who else disregarded size gains and went for strength?

Who else disregarded size gains and went for strength?

I have gained miniscuke muscle since instarted lifting 3.5 years ago. Maybe 25 lbs.

Im 5’9 148lbs and forced myself to stay small and get huge lifts just to challenge peoples perspective. I managed a 325lb bench, 435 squat in that time and all raw.

Honestly more satisfying than being huge and lifting numbers ppl expect you too. Im tempted to carry on to get a 405 bench at like 160lbs but maybe im taking it too far and i know it’ll take 4 years.

I may be ready to bulk finally but isnt that boring?

If you aren't bulked and lifting that weight then you're probably ROM cheating faggot

>hes never heard of powerlifting.

Middle fingers on the ring down to chest. Its not cheating lol.

Also squatting is easier with a stretch reflex(i squat high bar) so it makes less sense to skip ROM.

Then if you're doing a sensible routine like, say, 5 sets of 8~12 reps per exercise, then there's no way you ain't bulk nigga.

Post body.

How do you even gain strength without gaining size in muscle/fat?

I was stalled at a 100kg BP for years, then I said "FUCK IT" and went on a bulk and gained 15kg 80kg > 95kg and I hit a 140kg BP relatively quickly.

But being 95kg is fat for me, I need to be 80kg max to maintain aesthetics, right now I am MUCH stronger, but I look more DYEL because the added fat is hiding my gains.

DUDE. Thank god. I've been trying to get a double bw bench press forever. What programs and routines did you follow to get here? Please fucking tell me everything you've done

Btw I completely disregarded muscle as well. Just recently switched routines

You can probably cut down to 85-87 and look ripped now. You couldn't have added 40 kg to your bench without gaining lean size.

Just lean but not bulked. I dont do much volume i never go above triples on bench just lots of work above 86 percent per week

> went for strength
> weighs less than a woman
nothing hard about being small and lifting baby weight

I dont care lol. Especially whrn most women are fat when that weight. I go for the slim ones

post some evidence of your lifts anytime, because you look like 225 would fucking staple you to a bench

youtube.com/watch?v=kihtH3IcWhY

I train alone so dont get many videos, but my friend filmed this for me about 8 months ago at the end of a workout. i dont bench my max every time obviously but here is 120kg max at the time was exactly 140kg, and am stronger since then.

225 is not hard at all, i can do about 18 reps with that

your butt came way the fuck off the bench.
3 red lights. no lift

Insanely wide grip and ass flying off bench with 20kg under your max, looks unlikely af bro

Rather than working on strength in order to be smol and pick up heavy weights, I worked on aesthics to be jacked and pick up chicks. I'm 5'11 and 205lbs at about 13% BF and my max bench is only 335. I spent way more time training my abs and arms and doing cardio than anything else.

We all lift for different reasons.

lmao okay bros. like to see you do anything even clsoe to 1.5x ur bodyweight like that let alone over twice.

my grip is middle fingers on the rings. its not even max grip.
My butt came off the bench about an inch and a half, and it does this even at low weight because its a fault i never corrected since day one. If i tuck my legs and bench on my toes it doesnt happen but i do not compete so i don't bother doing that.

Additionally, like i said, this was end of a workout, candid and towrds the end of a 6 week cycle on my own program so iw as battered up, over 8 months ago. my max when recovered today is 147.5kg.

whatever makes you all feel better tho guys

yeh man i tried that for a while but i just found it less fun. will probably head that way soon. just having fun on the way messing with ppl by challenging their perspective.

the way i see it, i can struggle insanely for another 5 years and get to a 405 bench with 150-155 bodyweight. or i can increase my aesthetics and size with a lot more ease in that time while also gaining strength too, but sacrificing that relative strength.

basically its a effort to reward ratio that at this point is probably not worth pursuing. however i know it CAN be done.

you've got a good strength foundation, but that video is not a good lift by anyone's standards.
what makes it especially annoying is the title "Bench press progress form critique"
you want a form critique? keep your butt on the bench. also you should probably use a narrower grip. ultra wide is for bench suits

>cope

yes, but how? I can bench on my toes without the but coming up but apparently most powerlifitng feds don't accept that.
I was told maybe to put my feet wider or something but i haven't tried that much. would appreciate any advice you might have so i can improve my bench.

Also, that grip is middle finger on the rings. max grip in every fed is index finger on the ring, my grip is perfectly fine as far as i'm aware.

i hope you break your fucking ankles doing bench press with stupid ass form like that, and then you drop the bar on your neck and no one wants to come help you because you have a stupid ass haircut like that

>My butt came off the bench about an inch and a half
>pic related

In all seriousness your body is really nice tho gj but it was objectively a bad lift.

forgot to add pic
but way more than 1.5 inches bro

I bench on my toes as well. I wasn't aware that powerlifting feds don't accept it, but I don't compete either. you can try putting 25lb plates under your feet so they're flat.

max allowable isn't optimal unless you have the frame to touch your chest when your elbows are 45 degrees from your torso.

this vid explains it

here's 5'10" 153 benching 405

also, your elbows should be perpendicular to the floor at the bottom. pic related shows that they're not

lmao, you guys are motivating the fuck outta me.
will post back in a couple years with 405 and watch you all kill yourselves.

I really don't care about your opinion in particular because i know it's coming fro ma weak fag. i suggest you stop talking shit to people online and instead go work on your own stuff, maybe you will learn something about yourself.

fact of the matter is i could come back next month with brushed up form, and you sorta ppl would only complain that i'm "arching" my back, or that im "not pausing it for 2 seconds". you will always have some reason as to why you are not a weak fag yourself.

I never claimed it was good. i never even said i compete but if i did i would brush up my form. as i said, i can do that on my toes fine but IPF for example, wouldn't allow that. I may pause my strength pursit to clean up my form, but i realise that i don't compete and if my ass was on bench ppl would complain about something else. This is exactly why i purse strength instead of size, to challenge peoples views.

Have to deal with weight classes in Judo and BJJ, so while I did gain about 10kg of muscle over the years, I didn't really bother bulking any further as I'd have a hard time maintaining the extra mass as well as having to significantly revamp my game as I'd suddenly be the short guy in the weight class.

Haven't really kept up with lifting since my peak days, but I eventually hit triple bw deadlift and beyond. Was nice.

Long has been mentoring me a while. hes really cool. He told me that once raw strength is built you can clean up form rather easily, as that is what he did. I'm going to take his advice over weak fit posters seeing as he managed a 405 bench.

I will watch this video, not really a fan of alpha destiny personally. We are all built differently and nothing works the same for everyone.
Like i said i dont actually use max grip. i can bench as much with max grip.

>bar comes up lopsided
>not even tight at the bottom
how in the hell did he make that?

* can't bench more with max grip.
middle fingers is optimal for me. i have experimented a lot.

I did when I was younger and it was a total waste of time. It was satisfying to see peoples shock and admiration at my decent lifts but almost all the benefits of lifting.

Was reminded today when my mother saw Whey in my pantry and kicked off about destroying my liver for no results oblivious to what i was actually achieving in their garage.

i stand corrected

you're a fucking genetic anomaly to be able to bench what you do with that twiggy body of yours, unreal

Bump

All I am reading is that you missed 3.5 years of building a beautiful body because you wanted to 'change people's perspective'. That lack of confidence makes me a little sad.
