Snatching is fun! FUN!

>power snatch as much as I snatch
kill me

stop power snatching when you're trying to normal snatch, mongo

Muscle snatch with a slight foot slide. This will teach you to drop under the weight with good bar path

That picture really makes me laugh my ass off

It is liu though so like a random slav can't compete

Why don’t we just fs?

Whoa, who here is in the Olympics? Nobody? Shouldn't this be /wlg/ then?

>powerlifting
>no power movements

Fuck off

but i'm training for 2020 :^)

It's the name of the sport, much like weightlifting

Because it's an assistance movement that's utterly worthless outside of strengthening one's ability to rack and recover from a heavy clean.

front squat does not strengthen the legs to the same degree that the backs squat can
yes, it is supposed to acclimate the body to heavy cleaning, and should mimic the movement of the clean as close as possible
i do not think this is it's only function, though
when done properly, it is great for developing isometric back strength which is, aside from explosiveness or 'power production', the most important element in this sport.
the bulgarian team under abadjiev mostly did front squats because their training was motivated by parsimony and the greatest adaptive specificity
this made them very capable weightlifters, but left them extremely vulnerable to injury, etc.
back squats have many benefits beyond just developing leg strength. they are a 'full body' movement, and illicit an system-wide adaptive response. they are better for longevity, general fitness, greater work capacity, etc etc.

>illicit
baaaa-ka

heh
you missed the improper contracting of it's as a possessive article and some other things

joke's on you, i just skim read posts longer than three lines

im going to fs and low bar squat and there’s nothing yoelse can do to stop me

221 you mean

my dad was a powerlifter, if you put his name on youtube you can see him lifting, damn he was always against me playing football and basketball besides being pretty good at it because he told me it was a girl's sports and that i should lift weights, everytime i brought a girl or friends home he would start bragging about how strong he was and challenge the guys to bench press,(althought his max was 300 pounds equiped lol) armwrestling and stuff, he was weird as shit and made my friends freak out a lot of times, he also would flex his bloated body in front of my girlfriends, he was a disgusting fatfuck, all you mentioned above in this post is related to him, my parents broke up because of his lifting obsession and ending bankrupt, i dont hate him right now but hes autistic as fuck

I recently got hold of a pair of elastic bandages. Like the ones Lasha and Ilya wear. Will they give as much support as a pair of sleeves?

your dad sounds based, you're just a faggot

>Stop snatching and cleaning
>Both front squat and back squat improve

Hmmmmmmmm

>start snatching and cleaning
>push press numbers going through the roof
hmmmmmm

more, if you wrap them right

Bump

Nice

I just started oly lifting after years of bodybuilding stuff.

I finally got the techniques down and hit 135lb snatch and 225 clean and jerk this weekend. big milestone in my lifts I feel even though they are noobworthy.

This tbqh

I'm trying to squat 200kg before the end of the year and my current 1RM (tested maybe a month ago) was 123kg. Possible or no?

>too much of a soft, manlet, GDE bitch to compete in powerlifting/strongman competitions
>discover you can play with a bouncy bar instead
>become a crossfit cuckold
>mfw

what it's like being such embarrassing, weak little faggots? you look like shit, you (might) do some totally useless bar bouncing instead of actually lifting weights and everybody thinks you're a bunch of pompous shit stains since EVERY crossfit dumb fuck fits that bill.

tell me so i have more reasons to laugh at you.

Spitz is their coach but from everyone I've met of Cal Str if you're not in the cool club he'll just ignore you completely

Sounds like a shitty environment IMO especially with the crap music

Sounds like a fag

Maybe they train on their own or have a different coach?

When I was in Bulgaria, one of the coaches at the club were we trained completely ignored us and never gave any tips or guidance. But not because he didn't care, but because he wasn't our coach. It's a huge disrespect to coach athletes that aren't yours. Unless of course you have an agreement or you know the other coach and are already familiar with the athletes. The Latvian coach usually coaches the Italian lifters at international training camps and so on.

Or maybe Spitz is an elitist dick of course.

I know what you're saying but that wasn't the vibe I got. I honestly don't know though. It sounded like Spitz ignores everyone but Kitts and a couple others.

Concerning. I wanted to travel to SF and train there once. Maybe I won't.

is the powerlifter in the pic a world class elite lifter?

Thinking about joining a weightlifting club.
Any norwayfags here?

I need to learn how to power clean.
Any tips? I've watched alan thrall and rippetoe videos but wonder if that's enough.

not without juice

no pulls?

in the men's sport, there are eight weight classes so there are 24 world records, snatch, jerk, and total records for each class (3x8=24). 10 of the current 24 records are held by people who have previously served suspensions for being caught using.

in the last olympics in 2016, there were 24 medals given out for the men (3 per class, gold/silver/bronze). 7 of the 24 medalists had previously served suspensions for /fraud/. 6 other competitors had previously served suspensions, and in this competition, they placed 4th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 15th, and 18th in their classes for total. 2 competitors were caught for /fraud/ in the competition itself and had their results removed.

in the women's olympics there were only 21 medals (seven weight classes). 3 of the 21 medalists had previous suspensions, including the only usa competitor to win a medal. two other previous /fraud/ suspensions placed 4th and 5th in their class. 1 other competitor, who placed 10th in her class, has just had a test failure announced but hasn't been suspended yet or had her results removed.

those are just the ones who've been caught. odds are that every record held was made by a /fraud/ and every medalist is a /fraud/ and most of the people who make it to the international stage are /fraud/.

the next time you see shit about stats, what's "elite" or what people are capable of, just remember that the results you see at the competitive level are all illegit. they're all on the juice. what you can expect as a natty, especially one who's not genetically gifted and who didn't start lifting in middle school, is gonna be pretty mediocre-looking if you judge by what you see on the net.

Squat at least 3x a week.

literally nothing wrong with using steroids

How in tha hell am i supposed to catch on my shoulders? they don't go that far forward. Is it bad to catch power cleans with just your arms?

My 95% felt like 80% today.

Attached: 6089bef304fb214da60013d41bcb9513.jpg (1024x682, 215K)

not possible.

Where would you put them? I put pull ups there as a pulling accessory, but is something else needed? Should I replace pull ups with rack pulls?
I only have 90 minutes per workout (uni gym with a tight schedule) so I can't do too much at once.

you elbows are probably way too low. just keep pushing them up until the correct position develops.

I failed a 100% squat today. fuck this
stretch them with front squats. there you get the proper rack position

It's a max effort clean, how the fuck else do you expect it to look? His comp PR is like 210.

Holy shit that image actually ticks me the fuck off. If you look at every single light and successful weightlifter, their quads are massive compared to the rest of their body, as that is the single most important muscle group in oly lifts. Meanwhile, powerlifters have to train the big three which require completely different muscle groups and requires all-around muscularity. You actually have to be retarded if you think that powerlifters are weak because they are powerlifters. Go suck a fat cock and get drowned by the semen you shithead.

>Powerlifting
>Squat is a competition movement

>Weightlifting
>Squat is not a competition movement

Blow it out your ass, fampai.

wew someone got triggered lmao

insecure much??

>A clean goes into a front squat
Fucking brainlet holy shit

Attached: 1523670886481.png (403x448, 53K)

The point still remains. Powerlifters train the squat to become good at squatting. Weightlifters train squat just because it's a useful too to get stronger in the snatch and c&j. You'd expect a powerlifter to actually know how to squat.

Yes, I'm aware of that powerlifters have to be good at squatting. But they still have two other movements which are completely unrelated to the squat which also require different body proportions to be good at. Meanwhile, successful weightlifters have completely different proportions to powerlifters, which makes squatting for weightlifters so much easier. I also forgot to add that the clean, the squat jerk, and the snatch go into some form of squat, which effectively makes squatting half their training, but powerlifters have the squat as 1/3 of their lifts, so at most, 1/3 of their program.

>benching squatting deadlifting is more all around strength than a clean and jerk

ooookaaaaaaaaaaay

>no spotters

you can just drop the bar

>Several years ago I posted ironically that I lift for Swift
>Some asshole autist actually took it seriously

meh. any decent owl is gonna be a good powerlifter in terms of squat and deadlift. you basically cannot make a powerlifting program into a weightlifting program, but on the other hand, if you swap out some of the overhead strength movements from a owl program and just put in bench press work in its place, any owl program becomes a powerlifting / supertotal program. you can make a owl into a powerlifter, but very few powerlifters ever become decent weightlifters.

NO RACK PULLS EVER!
shitty ego meme lift that fucks up bars!
if you have to, bring your own fucked-up bar to the gym to fuck it up even more, you stupid cocksucker!
by "pulls" meant an olympic variant, the first and second pulls of the clean or snatch. they're a pretty standard feature of a lot of programs, especially ones built on russian ideas, but they aren't a universal feature.

literally EVERYTHING wrong with /fraud/. have you seen the changes coming down the pike for the sport? they're gonna shoah the weight classes and force people to compete in multiple IWF tested competitions in the 18 months prior in order to qual for the olympics, and it's mostly because it's an effort to combat /fraud/.

Let’s starts a petition to legalize steroids in iwf

Attached: 05DB54BC-1E25-400F-9EBE-7A6B69EB6DB4.gif (255x202, 1.24M)

part of the reason to shoah the clases is to wipe out any records which were made by dopers, which is to say, ALL of them. they've done this before in 1996 and in 2000. they will NOT re-use any weight class which previously existed.

the other part of the reason is IOC politics. first, the IOC wants to punish IWF for its high number of doping scandals, so they are going to REDUCE the number of classes to be had to seven. FOR EACH SEX, which is the second point, they want sex equality in the number of medals given out.

my guess for the new classes is this:
men: 58, 68, 78, 88, 98, 109, 109+
women: 50, 57, 64, 73, 82, 92, 92+

no thanks, how you about you see about reviving jon north's shitting steroid bar-slamming fed, or getting louie from westside to start a crappy doper fed instead?

do the westside one and you /fraud/ morons can do snatches with chains and wearing double-ply canvas, fuckers.

Ty for the pallet cleanser

What's the point of making new classes to eliminate old juiced records if they still have no way of stopping juicers from just competing in the new classes and juicing those records as well?

Ehh why are you so upset?

do you roid?

No

Hnnngahsismd

Attached: F686983B-6EE6-4983-8218-6B7D25CAE67D.jpg (398x383, 144K)

ok i understand people are pretty ignorant about juicing and testing, so here's some background

synthetic testosterone was first made in 1935 with nobel awarded in 1939. test-prop or testosterone-propionate possibly in use in athletics by 1939 or early 1940s, possibly by the soviets. in the 1940s, steroids were used to treat burn patients in hawaii military hospitals; in 1952 the hawaii weightlifting team beat the york barbell team in the national weightlifting championships, and this was the york team's first loss in 20 years. coincidence?

many articles claim dr. john ziegler conversed with a soviet weightlifting team doctor at the 1954 worlds about soviet use of testosterone. methandrostenolone aka dianabol/dbol was patented in mid-1950s and marketed by ciba pharma in 1958, and became well-known in bodybuilding and weightlifting circles from that time. by 1959 (maybe 1958 or 1960) dianabol was being used at york barbell on non-medal-contending weightlifters. by 1961, bob hoffman and york barbell started marketing "functional isometric training" in racks in their articles, but their test subjects had been using dbol since at least 1960 and that was what improved their results, not the isometrics lel. a 1965 article in strength & health claims ziegler was using testosterone on american weightlifters in the late 1950s; whether this was referring to the york team and the "isometrics" fraud, or to something else, is unclear.

dianabol was also being used by football teams such as san diego chargers and oklahoma sooners in 1962. bill toomey, us decathlete in 1968, admitted to having used them since 1967. bill starr wrote in strength & health magazine in 1971 that pretty much everyone at the 1970 us weightlifting nationals was a user. he also wrote about a young weightlifting and powerlifting trainee of his, mark rippetoe, who was experimenting with them as well.

with respect to testing in both weightlifting and other sports ... the first tests for amphetamines were in the 1970 worlds for weightlifting. the first tests for anabolics were in the 1976 olympics and caught multiple athletes. out-of-competition testing started in the late 1980s but is still very spotty even in iwf weightlifting, for example, the kazhakstan team has at least 30 suspended athletes in the last 10 years, of which only 2 were caught in out-of-competition tests (most of them use winstrol aka stanozolol aka horse steroids); also the ethiopian distance runners never get tested because they're so remote (so they're doped to the gills with epo etc) and the jamaican sprinting team all had traces of clenbuterol in the last olympics but the ioc washed over it because they were afraid to face the scandal. starting in 2005, samples are now kept 10 years for iwf weightlifting and many people have been caught retroactively. even with better tests for metabolites etc., for many strategies there simply are no good tests and thus ratios (t/e, hematocrit, etc.) are used, which is a license to /fraud/ right up to the limit level if you have a support doctor. supposedly there is testing in usa pro sports but the reality is there isn't, the procedures are such that it's a joke to get around.

then there are things like the tue aka "therapuetic use exemption" which is /fraud/ by the rules. how many medal-winners at the recent winter olympics were asthmatics and what are the effects of their asthma medication on healthy distance skiers? shooters and archers with adhd and the effect of that medication on healthy people's ability to concentrate? boxers or wrestlers with low-t and the effect of hrt on a healthy fighter?

with every improvement in testing, there has typically been a rejiggering of the classes to wipe the old records clean. the out-of-competition testing implementation slowed a lot of people down, but didn't eliminate it, and a lot of it depends on the testing organization at the national level doing its job. also the most recent phenom has been re-testing past samples, as they started keeping them for 10 years starting in 2005.

the wiping of the records isn't what will clean up the sport. it's the changes to the olympic qualifying that will do that, and i mentioned them in my first post about this itt.

let's start with a counter example. ilya. that fake fucking sonofabitch "won" every international competition he's ever been in, but that's because he dopes out of his fucking mind for years at a time and only comes off to compete every once in a while. he's been able to do this because:

1) kazakhstan doesn't test its athletes ooc
(see what i said about them having 30 sanctioned athletes, all from competition testing)

2) ilya didn't have to compete a lot to qualify for the olympics
(so he has more time to dope and more time to clear it out of his system)

3) countries sent their self-selected teams
(so kaz can qualify x number of athletes using a "b" team that doesn't dope, then win with dopers that they send to the games)

granted, everybody plays games with the qualification, the usa sent a known doper, robles, and they fucked around with their own qualification procedures to do so (sarah should not have been able to compete at that first qualifier but usaw let her), and they also ex post facto changed the qualifications so they could send that nigress jenny arthur to the o based on a competition she had already been in, but that second one is beside the point of doping.

so here's how the new qualification procedure is gonna work.

1) there is no "team" qualification. athletes qualify. no more qualifying with tested athletes while your prospective olympian is staying home to /fraud/ or to get the shit out of his system

2) athletes are gonna have to compete at IWF sanctioned events pretty often in order to qualify. this will make sure that they get tested by independent labs. none of this bullshit where your nation's org does the test. the average works out to a competition about every 3-4 monthts. that won't stop 'em, but it sure as shit will slow them down, especially since the test window for finding metabolites is getting longer and longer

3) sanctions increased both for individuals (that's been done already) and for nations. athletes will have fewer chances to qualify if other athletes from their nation are sanctioned.

personally i think the next step should be lifetime bans for dopers, but that hasn't started to be discussed yet.

I have a hole under one of my teeth, and I don’t got dental insurance. I’m

>lifetime bans for dopers
I honestly don't understand why this isn't part of the conversation. Like what is the fucking harm? These people are literally stealing medals from other competitors, making the life's work of honest athletes with real integrity forgotten because they were eclipsed by a cheater. They take on this risk in full knowledge of what the consequences could be, and it's an extremely binary decision. You take a substance on the IWF list or you don't, it's not like flopping in soccer or something where there are grey zones. Even ESPORTS has managed to pull together lifetime organization bans for people using cheats, and nobody is arguing that an esport champion losing to a cheater is worse than a clean athlete losing their likely once in a lifetime chance at a medal to some cheating pos

MAH KNEES

There are people in this thread who think Olympic weightlifting is a clean sport. Just let people take steroids.
