Where did the above poster claim that it was better than other forms of calorie restriction? It's one of the many means to reach the end, which is calorie restriction. Many people find it to be one of the only (or sometimes only) effective way to induce calorie restriction in their diets. Others will get along fine with other methods.

Pretty much how I got my gf to do calorie restriction because the concept is simple to follow. She still eats carbs though, just lowered her count because she can only workout on weekends

I myself find Intermittent Fasting to be the easiest way for me to cut, and I've lost over 30kg in 3 different cuts using IF. But I don't go around claiming it's anything more than caloric restriction because it's not.

I've done a keto diet a few times now.

Pros:
>Never feel hungry
>Can ingest more calories
>Strict diet makes it easier to adhere to
>Lose weight easily

Cons:
>Keto flu (until you learn to regulate salt intake)
>Training suffered, lifts tanked
>Can be hard to balance fat ratio of intake
>Acetone breath
>Look deflated

All in all it was fine for fat loss but didn't cut it for me for training. I've adopted a loose paleo diet (meat, taters, and greens) and things have worked out better.

Except the body does not handle carbs and fat in the same way. Keto is a hormonal benefit.
