I've read that you burn like 100 extra calories if the water is cold

Thanks bro, you're the best

thanks brehs

Yeah your body uses some energy to heat the water you drink to your body temperature. The colder it is the more energy it will use to heat it.

yes, good job

cheers buddehs

Yeah I wasn't agreeing with the amount of calories, was just saying that the body does use energy to heat up cold water more than warm water, relative to body temp.

>That adds up to about 1 calorie in actuality. The body isn't that retarded.
Actually not.
>The first, the small calorie, or gram calorie (symbol: cal), is defined as the approximate amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius at a pressure of one atmosphere.
example: If you drink 100ml water that is 1 degree lower than your body temperature, then the body would use up 100cal to heat the water to your body temperature

yeah, but 1 food calorie = 1000 unit-of-energy calories. So even if it's really cold and a big glass you'll burn like 10 calories at most.
Although I can't tell if you're trying to speak in food calories or normal calories because America

>The first, the small calorie, or gram calorie

That is about 1/1000th of the calorie that we regularly reference, which is the large/food calorie. 100 cal would equal 0.1 Cal.

Doesn't matter he referenced the scientific standard which can only be the gram calorie. He may not be aware there are different calorie scales.

That's a kcal

1000 calories (cal) = 1 kilocalorie (kcal) = 1 food calorie (Cal)
