Pendlay Rows

Lets talk Pendlay Rows, you do them, right user?

Anyway what is a respectable PRow? Bodyweight? 2Pl?

I'm currently at 82,5kg (84kg bw)1rm and it has been an awesome exercise.

Yeah they're rows

They're great, though not as important as cleans and diddly. I don't do em much but I can 1rm 2pl8 which is probably just barely respectable. That's slightly over BW for me btw

worthless exercise that puts your lower back in a compromising position

pic related outclasses it in every single regard possible

Equal or near equal your bench press.

Otherwise, why even bother with a strict barbell row off the ground?

Turning rows into an iso lift is a great idea!

Fucking not.

>t. spinelet

I like them. Pretty hard to keep them strict though so it is a slow progress (90 kg for sets of 8-10, if I started cheating I could do 110 kgs). I wonder how seal rows will feel like since I will be able to do them in new gym during summer. Can any user share experience with them?

Literally seen about 1 person doing them in all my years at the gym lmao

Swear this exercise only exists on the internet

why would you ever do a pendlay row lmao

not as good for DL carryover as deadlift variations or looser form barbell rows, not as good for training the upper back as literally almost any other row variation or vertical pulls
this is my favorite row variation

if you think that's an isolation lift, you are the biggest fucking idiot on this entire imageboard right now and you really need to stop posting and start lifting

>hey i just started doing SS/SL and i know everything

when you feel a slight tinge in your lower back you'll know what exercise to cut

I do rows in a squat rack with the safety bars at the lowest position.

weighing in at 75kg, starting cut down to 70 again. pendlay 90kg for 5X5
my best lift

I love doing Pendlay, it feels really good.

wut

I started doing these added it into my routine. I can feel the squeez in the back very well. Also probably have the most fun with this compared to any other row.

the only people who do pendlay rows are either on SL or SS (and have replaced PCs with pendlay rows)

so it's exclusively going to be internet lifters doing them

>unironically doing pendlays
>not doing athleanlays

Like meme-x shows here Never felt barbell rows on my lats, but this variation, feels better.

I aint doing either and i still do them. I dont have mobility problems, even if im stiff i just have to tilt my chest up a little.
Find i can get a good contraction, chart progress easily and do all that without worrying about form breakdown.

supinated grip or overhand?

did you always feel it higher up in your back or something?

when i first started pendlays i felt it in my lats, then i stopped training for 2 years and when i came back it was in my upper back for a month or two.

Although i dont think it generally matters where i feel it, if the form is correct and im progressing on the weight i know its getting the work.

Big ol’ cheaty barbell rows are best rows

Pendlay rows are shit. Once you start getting heavy you'll realize this, in the meantime DYELs will praise them

I stopped doing them and switched to more upright rows at 225

I don't like them. I'm a tall guy, and the form is harder on me. I like using the machine-based rows, and I can add a pound a week to them and get good, steady progression

does your gym have bumpers? I think that keeps a lot of people from doing them

Rows as described by Rippetoe are fine but you will start cheating a little as it gets heavier, it’s just natural because of the position you’re in. Reminder, the row taught by rippetoe is not a pendlay row but a lot of confusion is from people mislabelling the movement.

Actual flat back pendlay rows are shit.

I do pendlay rows after deadlifts and pull-ups because I enjoy them, I don’t feel as much of a squeeze as with t-bars or a ‘normal’ row, but they are fun

ENJoy your no gains, gainlet
