What

What

WHAT

Nigga, real talk, it’s 2018, and food still exists, why are you using gainer powders?

Convenience. It takes like 20 min to get home from gym, don't want to prepare food all the time

Mass gainers in general are shit and a waste of meal.

t. Skelly who started at 165 lbs and gained 30 lbs lean mass in a year

>Cutler
>Cut

You don't need to cut, user. You need to bulk. Your PT probably doesn't understand that.

I used the green mass gainer about 2 bags and it worked great.

Les DYELS terrible

Cytogainer has been the only one which really did anything to me but I have hit pr's while taking supplements and while not taking them so it's a bit of a scam

if you really want to take this shit i'd take the ones without sugar (read the label) and the one with higher protein.

How about supplement with a standard protein powder and get slow digesting carbs from food like sweet potatoes?

You're ingesting a ton of maltodextrin and no fibre with those, it's horrible for your gut biome. Also try upping fats if you need more calories; avocados, coconut oil, and animal fats are all great for that.

Also he's right about Optimum being overhyped. It shouldn't even be as highly ranked as it is on labdoor currently, but that's what happens when user reviews are also taken into account for the rankings. Their standard whey is mediocre at best and their gainer is very much an average one.

Aren't most "mass gainers" just whey, oat flour, and sugar?

how? just eating right?

So no more powders then?

if I eat after ingesting the shake in 40-60 min will that negate the bad effects?

Depends on what you eat. If it's food with inulin fibre then it will mitigate some of the inflammation caused by the maltodextrin, but really you should try to source carbs from starchy vegetables in your diet anyway.

Powders are fine, since obviously not every powder is the same so that's a stupid generalisation to make. But mass gainer is a bit of a waste since not only are dietary sources of carbs cheaper, but they can also be far healthier (I am specifically talking about starchy vegetables here) than maltodextrin powder. Protein powder is convenient if you cant regularly hit your daily protein intake, so it's not bad. But there is a clear distinction between mass gainers and protein powders.

you gotta be a fucking idiot to think that the effect of switching brands is anything but negligible

Newfag here.
Aren't whey protein powders in general a scam? Aren't they just the waste from cheese production? Why should I buy any of them? Eating right just sounds more reasonable.

Because it's easier and quicker to chug down a protein shake for virtually the entire day's protein requirements than cooking and eating solid food. You might be able to keep your protein intake up with real food for a couple of months, but down the line you'll realize how much time you spend on focusing on that instead of just biting the bullet and whipping out your credit card for whey.

Their amino acid profile is actually pretty amazing which makes them viable as a protein supplement. The fact that whey comes from cheese and is a byproduct just so happens to conveniently make it a cheap source.

You should still aim to get the majority of your protein from more nutrient dense sources, like red meats and organ meats if possible. In a pinch, whey is convenient and easy to consume even with a low appetite.

Yeah, but do they even work? Are they even what they advertise? From what I've read on how they're made and seeing the kind of people who sell them, my bullshit sensor is off the charts.
