Coffee has been around for a long enough time, if it causes all those problems YOU'RE just WEAK.

Most food products contain caffeine hope you know this, so you never really avoid it. I work for a commercial company, that creates a particular popular brand of packaged food and we implement caffeine as a non-listed ingredient in dosage of 45 - 75mg. Reason being is its boosted effects become associated with the food as well as mood enhancement, so every time you feel good after eating and you associate the food with that feeling.

16 hour days only happened during the industrial revolution. Farm workers can only work at most when the sun is up and when the climate supports growing crops. In medieval Europe there were dozens of festival days every year when no work happened, plus every Sunday was no work. I can and did switch to decaf due to anxiety issues a year or so back. I regularly dilute my coffee with decaf also based on if I started to get overly anxious the day previous.

Switching isn't a problem for me as much as I like coffee. I just don't despite my anxiety because I prefer the taste, the little come-up, and the habit. It's a habit for me more than an addiction.

That being said, I am increasingly moderating my caffeine intake. So maybe tomorrow I'll try to do just 100mg altogether which is about a standard cup and then peter out this weekend to no caffeine and try a caffeine free week following that.
