i'm a poor lad in college as well and my diet is primarily canned tuna and salmon with rice and spinach
Most of the sodium is in the seasoning, which you don't have to do
Like, buy a rotisserie chicken which is literally cheaper than raw chicken, simmer that with some sofrito (fancy way of saying celery, carrots, onions) for a few hours. Then strain that shit into ice cube trays and freeze it. You can also do a dashi if you want, but stuff like kombu and wakame are hard to find in flyover land.
For the real ramen experience, mix some mirin (which you can sub rice wine vinegar), dried fish (think anchovies or katsuboshi if you can find them), soy sauce, and salt. You can add garlic and brown sugar to taste to get tare. This is super salty and super concentrated; add only like one teaspoon per bowl.

I did not cook for myself until I interned out of state my junior year of college. Cooking decently for yourself is not that hard; I learned from youtube videos. The only annoying thing is that knife skills take practice before you get fast

A ramen only diet is a recipe for hyperkalemia. You will be very unhealthy, sick, and in way too much agony to effectively study. Furthermore, instant ramen isn’t that cheap on a per calorie basis. You’re better off with rice, beans, canned tuna or sardines, milk if you can digest it, and eggs. Frozen produce is also a good idea.
Oh and to save money and lose weight, look into fasting but do it safely. I think /fast/ gets stupidly crazy and is constantly trying to meme each other into killing themselves

I prefer Maruchan yakisoba or Nissin chow mein as they have 600-700mg of sodium compared to 1,000+ for ramen. Either way I'd add beef or chicken to either and would avoid drinking the broth.
Check out Walmarts and Wincos, most of the time their discount food is half off. I got 4lbs of 80% in the form of 12 hamburger patties for $8.55 the other day. Was able to get 93% lean ground beef for $2.50 once.
