I tried them for a bit of fun, my traps got a little bigger. Didn't really care to keep going though, they're kinda pointless and I've got other, more useful things to do.
These guys in the video don't hold the bar for long enough. You have to hold it for at least 3 seconds, it makes all the difference.

That's not controversial lol. There's no proof that rack pulls are the best way to build traps. The guys with the best traps are olympic lifters and they don't do rack pulls.

Anecdotally speaking I had no trap development whatsoever and I wanted to beef them up because my back hurt badly when I tried high bar squats. No traps = no where to rest the bar but on my spine. After a few months of heavy above knee rack pulls I had visible and meaty traps and had no problem resting a bar on there. I don't do them any more and my traps don't stick out like they did before but they absolutely work better than anything else for upper trap development.

it's called weighted stretch and yes it does work but there's always going top be a genetic component to natural muscle size
i saw the same amount of upper trap gains from rack pulls as i did from floor pulls, i would say that rack pulls for traps are only nessecary if you are an advanced lifter whose floor pulls are not progressing as fast as they used to.
