hamstring curls are ok, but theres way better exercises that can be done free weights

leg extensions are just plain retarded, horrible for your knees. stay well away

>isolate one maybe two muscle groups
>restrictive movement

that's about it. do some squats instead

What to replace leg curls with for leg day?

like what?

Deadlifts
Back/Front Squats
RDL
Lunges

literally anythings better than a shitty machine movement

Barbell hip thrust: hits hams, glutes, and hips, I haven't done them in a while until this morning and forgot how GOAT of an exercise it is.

squats don't really work the hamstrings, and all the other movements you listed focus on hip extension, knee flexion is missing

What are good exercises for legs that doesn't harm the knees?

squats

the one on the right is actually pretty based

Lunges
Box step ups
Anything along those lines

Tried hamstring curls for the last couple months and developed knee pain. Moderate weight and good form.

A few weeks off and pain vanished. Never touching this shit again.

If you lift for bodybuilding then leg Extensions and leg Curls are necessary for that extra detail. I don’t think they add mucjh in strength benefits but they do increas size and detail a bit.
If you’re primary concern isn’t on the appearance of your legs then skip them. Leg curls are pretty safe as long as you go by feeling the muscle instead of lifting big weights.

Do squats and deadlifts you mong. There's your hip extension and knee flexion.

every body builder ever would like to have a word with you

also natty here who pushes full stack for reps, zero knee issues ever.

>squats and deadlifts
>knee flexion
are you a retard, son?

>squats don’t work your hamstrings
I fucking hate this board
Leg extensions are fine if you keep it below RPE 8

>horrible for your knees
I have NEVER had any pain in the knees from leg extenstions.

Glute ham raise

I've done that exercise for years and never felt any pain on my knees.

Maybe some people just have shit knees

Hamstring curls are great. You should be doing some sort of knee flexion movement, and it and the GHR are the only games in town. The GHR is generally considered better, but you can vary the loading far more with h curls. Subjectively, the lying machines feel better than the seated ones.

Leg extensions are fine unless you have knee issues, just don't be a retard.
