Any of you boys here work construction? How has it effected your gains?
And to those of you who work a trade, how the fuck does someone start an electrical apprenticeship in Florida when everyone is looking for someone with at least 2 years experience, like even the helpers who don't speak English or know any math.
I do. Kinda, more upper body strength. Makes you sweat alot.

Depends if you're a landscaper then prepare for god teir. If you eat properly also of course

Get ready to move some 20 wheelbarrows of mulch.

Depends how intense the work is, and even your workout.
I work 12 hour continental shifts (2 days, 2 nights, then 6 days off). I really struggled to adjust. Dragging your ass to the gym to do a full body workout after a long day or night of grafting is daunting. I persevered, and eventually got used to it. You will need to adjust your diet (expect to be eating shit tons just to compensate for the calories burnerd, and maybe lose gains a bit until you get it all figured out. Hope this helps.

I did roofing one summer between semesters. my forearms got jacked carrying shingles. Also worked in a concrete yard last summer, again, forearms got huge using the heavy as fuck concrete vibrator. so if you want to build your forearms, work labour. going to the gym after 8+ hours blows though.

Any electricians here though?
Robert Peterson
my brother is an electrician. it's pretty chill, not nearly as much labour as other trades. he still gyms all the time. and his forearms are huge.
Aaron Ward
Take the first level NEC exam, it's easy as fuck. Then just apply. Any tradesman worth a damn will take you if you have your shit together and prove that you will be an asset to the company.
Charles Hill
I do hardwood floors. You just need to eat a little bit more to make up for the calories you expend doing manual labor.
Also, there is a severe labor shortage in the trades these days. My company battles to find good help. Just call every electrician in your area and ask if they're looking for an extra pair of hands. Most tradesmen are willing to train you if you're able-bodied, a good worker, willing to learn, and willing to stick around for a while and help build the company to make it worth their while.

I'm starting apprentice level bricklaying this September, wanna get into labouring jobs to toughen myself up I figure, that and it sounds better than anything in retail
My dad did just about every trade at one point or another, pretty short man but he had arms like a gorilla
Chase Perez
god damn

I'm gonna take a landscaping job over the summer for this exact reason. I loved tossing around 35-50 pound laser printers at my shitty retail job, but I'm too autistic to do sales so they hate giving me hours.
Gavin Jenkins
saved myself from losing a hand through brute strength once. Other than that, not much
Brayden Gray
sitting behind a counter all day drained the soul from me. I just don't think I'm suited for a stationary Job
Plus the people seem to be better in labouring Job, never gonna find girly gossip or whatnot at a construction site
Julian Anderson
trips of truth.
Jaxon Scott
I jumped around initially doing residential framing, then working for a builder, now I assist doing civil work on pipelines and fuck around for a third of the day.
My dad is about 46 but super lean with visible 6 pack abs despite being a heavy drinker. Never set foot in a gym, the nature of his work builds gains.

>Take the first level NEC exam, it's easy as fuck. They even let you write those without the schooling? Thoughts on going in through a union?
Also I see a lot of this "Helper 2" and "Helper 1" shit, I take it that's basically 1st and 2nd year apprentice, correct?
William Wright
Foreman here, don't do any actual manual labor, but fucking mexicans are always interesting, they eat like complete shit, like a shit as can be, and always stay skinny, and the ones that don't are pretty fucking ripped, but they are usually the youngers ones and few and far in between
Luis Clark
I don't really do construction for work anymore, but I'm an engineering technician so I do a good deal of manual labor.
I haven't set foot in a gym in a year or so, since my schedule is so fucked, and I never have any idea how exhausted or what part of my body will be fatigued in a particular day. Sometimes I sit at my desk and look at spreadsheets and graze all day, sometimes I'm lugging industrial equipment and can only manage coffee and a few quick bites here and there.
I will say that my forearms have blown up though, even though they were already decently sized from my little handyman gigs back in the day. I was out of town for work for 3 weeks, turning wrenches and lugging heavy packages, and when I got back, the first thing my girlfriend noticed was that my arms had grown in such a short time.
I'm a mover for the summer and depending on the day and group i'm working out but if a 12 hour heavy moving day coincides with back or legs its becomes a shit day. If i'm working chest or something else its not so bad.
Isaiah Young
I’m a helper at a steel workshop and a good portion of my 8 hrs is spent working my arms, core and back. I’ve made great gains but it is costly/tasking.

Just came back to working at the local mill for the summer. Work every break between uni and can usually make 20-25k in 3 1/2 months. Went to school for accounting and will only be making 36k / year come September when I start Big 4. Should have skipped uni and worked at the mill for the last 4 years.

I used to be electrician. Got a little bit stronger but not much.
Alexander Johnson
>work as a framer >fall off building and break arm Worth
Electrical is probably the most sedentary of all the trades, if you do commercial you might have to lift heavy ass drums of cable, ladders and switchboards but not enough to make gainz. Also with commuting 2+ hours each way and raising young kids I still manage to go to the gym 6 days a week.
Yeah, it's pretty nice. Get to drive around and play with electricity, job's fairly easy most of the time. Paperwork sucks though, gotta document everything you do on a tablet in the car
Cameron Rodriguez
There's still plenty of gossip working construction. Especially if you are the only white guy supervising a big crew of spics, it's nothing but shit talk and stupid bullshit. Learned Spanish so I would k ow what they are saying, but now I almost wish I hadn't, it's annoying as hell having to listen to them all day.

Been a landscaper in Australia for 10 years. When you're in with/working for a renowned business it would have to be one of the most physically demanding jobs. I had hardly walked into a gym until this year but have always had a fair bit of muscle, and am definitely stronger than nearly everyone I know. In saying that though, there is a huge difference in work strength/gym strength.
