martial arts are fighting sports
you think they are just memes yet you want to learn one in order to learn how to fight?
Go get in a bar fight and get your ass kicked over and over until you die or learn then, instead of working your way up from meme sports where you spar

anything that involves sparring.
Also, don't try to fight guys who are significantly bigger than you. They already have a mass over you and they may also train in some fighting discipline as well.
If you are poor and go to grade school, get into wrestling.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Krav Maga are pretty effective real world systems... Most of the stuff they teach to special operations soldiers come from those 2 systems.

Bar fights are the only real types of fighting because they don’t have meme rules like mmgay

American education. Every fighting sport has infamous stories about being beaten to shit by literal nobodies on the street. Yuri Vlasko, EU freestyle champ, got killed in a fight against two gypsies. He tried to grapple one, who resisted and got his head bashed in with a rock. Which is completely normal in a streetfight, which is mostly 2 on 1 or more and with weapons.

For boxing, we have Denis Boistov, the Great White heavyweight Hope of German boxing, who got jumped and beaten into a vegetable on the streets of Berlin. Officially, no one knows what happened. Inofficially, he seems to have messed with some drug dealers. Ricky Hatton got famously mugged in China and beaten up by a drug dealer.

These examples are all about champions of their sports. You, the run of the mill amateur, would fare even worse obviously. Every mainstream combat sport has similar stories, from Rickson Gracie ruining his knees on concrete while shooting for a takedown to Jhon Rhee of Taekwondo fame being robbed and beaten outside of his own home. To Dominik L., a Krav maga instructor from Germany, who barely avoided death after being stomed and glassed by two young Turks. We have boxing champs losing against teenager thugs, wrestling champs stabbed, Muay Thai champs killed by streetfighters, MMA guys having to run away from streetfights and just barely getting away alive, BJJ professors getting raped in jail.

etc. etc. etc.

The modern stuff is sport. And sport isn't fighting, just liek squash isn't tennis, and even if you are a GOAT tennis player, you may very well lose in squash - even though both disciplines are so similar.

The much maligned traditional arts fare better in street fights (a lot better even), which is why they are usually practised by law enforcement and military (famous example: the Thai army is NOT DOING MUAY THAI), but good luck finding a good school.

>BOXING champ Amir Khan was knocked to the ground and robbed outside a Birmingham bar because he was “showing off” and annoying spectators at a city concert, the man who struck the blows claims.

Beating a drunk hobo can be done without boxing training. Beating a good streetfighter cannot be done even with good boxing training.

Shit happens. Sport isn't fighting.
