Shoe talk

Are Converses really that great, or will any reasonably hard soled high top work just as well? Im constantly getting recommended them, but theyre like $70 and don't really seem too different from most other shoes.

Also thoughts on hybrid shoes like Rebbok Crossfits?

I just bought a pair of chucks, but I actually lift.
So far I have only had them a day so I've squatted in them. They are better than the air force 1s I was wearing. Chucks are 60 bucks when they're expensive. They run a half size big. Approved by me.

No, they're the memest of shoes.

Hybrids are also shit - they do nothing well except make Reebok / Nike / etc. money because crossfitters will buy anything.

I squat in oly shoes and recently started deadlifting in them. The little extra quad activation has increased my pulling poundage.

Chucks, skate shoes, etc. are shit to lift in.

What are your lifts?

Bro just go to a secondhand store and buy them you'll probably find one your size for like 10$

Squat: 228 kg
Bench: 148 kg
Deadlift: 232 kg (my squat was higher than my deadlilft until recently)

>my squat was higher than my deadlilft

I'll never understand people like this.

>squat more than deadlift
>trust me guys you should deadlift in oly shoes

Are you fucking kidding? This fucking belongs on /fa/ you retard.

Chucks are cheap.
My DL was lower than my squat as well due to injury.
You never know what people are going through.
You just fight your own fight fuckwads. You're all small and if you can't timestamp your body, that fact is irrefutable.

>OP asks question about lifting shoes on fitness board
>Say it belongs in /fa/

???????????

Just find some cheap chucks at a secondhand store like everyone else is saying, don't shell out fucking 70 bucks just because people told you to buy converses

>70 for converse
You can get them for 40 on sale

Strong legs, weak back. Probably shorter legs and longer torso too.

He's wrong about the shoes though. For the money chucks are just fine.

Chucks are overrated. They tend to self-destruct if you have wide feet, they're compressible, and the soles aren't particularly thin. If you're picky about those things look at wrestling shoes or get a time machine and grab some Reebok TR Lites. Or Sabos, I guess, but they're just overpriced wrestling shoes with a strap sewn on. If you're not picky about those things virtually any flat shoe will do, including Chucks.

ive lifted in chucks for a a couple of months hate it, my pinky toe hits against that hard sole in the front end of the shoe and it hurts it more than a fucking dress shoe with narrow toe cap. shitty to deadlift and shitty to squat in. i can bench 350 squat 350 and deadlift 500lb. my squat is really weak due to literally not train it more than 1 a week. i use this ones, they are flat my pinky doesnt hurt and atleast for me look a little better.
>olys are way better tho.

Is there any merit to the high tops, or should some shit like Vans be fine? Or am I just better off squatting in my socks?

>Not realizing barefoot is the only true patrician's choice for heavy lifts
>Not utilizing the perfection the Gods gave you
>Relying on (((shoes))) to move acceptably

this nigga was lifting in af1's fucking based

I just bought a pair of lowtops for $45 today, shop around

Gym doesn't let me workout barefoot though and I'm not wearing those fucking toe shoes

I bought a pair of D-Maks today for deadlifts.
They were on sale, real cheap, and Kai Greene endorsed them, so they can't be all bad.
Also I've bought RyderWear clothes before and it's really top notch shit

how do they feel when you lift in them

>not squatting barefoot at the gym
I wanna see that smelly footpussy

They haven't arrived yet so I'm not sure.
With luck they'll be here by Tuesday

>not lifting in flip flips

I have converses and they do the job, you can also wear them with other outfits as they aren't gym specific shoes and not ugly

do they have to be high tops? i currently lift in low top knock offs. they’ve been perfectly alright, and so have my vans when i wear those. will wearing high top real chucks have any effect on my lifting?

The idea of lifting shoes is that they are flat, high tops would only increase the support around your ankle which shouldn't need it

I'm a size 13 so secondhand stores don't really help me much

What program you run to go from 1100 to 1300. I'm right there planning on running Nsuns 531 or Sheiko intermediate and I can't decide. I really get this impression Sheiko was made for people pinning and I'm trying to natty up to 1400 then maintain.

This. I was built for squatting with a long torso and shorter legs, but my arms are short af so I had to switch to sumo. My conventional is 395 my fucking sumo is 455.

I paid 50 on Amazon, your tripping

Different guy, but it's worth noting that the Sheiko programs are mostly specifically for competition prep. They aren't meant to be used year-round and so you're probably better off doing much/most of your training with a view to getting generally stronger rather than hyperspecialising (note that this does not mean neglect the actual competition movements. Unless you don't plan to compete, then it's who gives a fuck).

The differences between natty and enhanced training are seriously overblown when it comes to strength work. Mostly it's not much more than the geared up guys needing a longer taper and being worse at tolerating high percentage work.

fuck off you brazilian mass murderer

I thought you could do the preps (I think it was 29 and 37) basically indefinitely before peaking for PRs.

Bear in mind that those are very old programs that were written for specific lifters. They got pushed out there as generic programs but they're really not. You could do them and you'd probably get pretty good results on them but it'll leave you with some weak points and a tendency to hate life. Sheiko's approach to programming is, well, it's pretty much what meet prep is for most people: Train until you're right at breaking point then pull back before it all falls apart. That's hard to maintain for extended periods and really hard if you've got other stress factors in your life.

Nsuns then? The Bridge? I just want a 1200 by august.

I got the cheap Airwalk version for 15 bucks, legit can't tell the difference in sole feel compared to my blue Chuck's.

I just use my WL shoes for almost everything. Deadlift in socks, don't see why I need to bring another pair of shoes for that.

Depends on a bunch of things, mostly prior training/what you suck at. I like nsuns (and similar 'throw volume at the problem' routines) but it will require more of a pre-comp transition than something that stays closer to the sport.

Also depends a lot on why you want that total by that time.

400/245/455, lifting for two years continuously but had experience before and had to stop due to unrelated injuries for several years. 205@6'3, 14ish% bf, 25 years old. Injuries don't matter anymore I just and a bit more twisted. Primary goal is strength with secondary goal as health and I guess aesthetics are nice. 1200 by that time was just a goal I had when I started this year and cut 30 lbs. I did SL>531 basic>proprietary undulating periodization and now am not sure where to go. I pull sumo and my OHP is shit.

I plan to end up with a 1400 in 3 years at around 220@15%. I'm going to bed, but any direction would be appreciated user. Have this instashot as down payment.

I should say the program progression mentioned was just for the last two years, and I cut january to may. My delts are shit.
