What is the appeal of [r9k/?

Used to be a cool place where losers who had nobody to talk to could talk about odd things at happened to them, post stories, some sad music and so on, was quite mellow and 'odd'

Then normies invaded and intensity got turned up to 11 on all sides. The normies ramped the SEXSEXSEXSEXSEX talk up to 11, in response the loser base ramped up their gross/weirdness to 11 in a bid to hold the board, and the current trend of identity politics and gender dynamics went through the roof.

The board is lost desu this is the first post I've made here in a couple years

I come here cause its better than b and less specific than most other boards

Jow Forums should have never been brought back.

Make it a blue board
Ban anyone making any kind of general thread
Ban all gay posters, they have a board for that (meaning threads specifically about being homosexual, someone posting in a thread about loneliness and wanting a bf is different)
Ban any thread specifically catering to or petitioning a female audience 'fembots what do you think about x' or 'fembot feels' etc

Would greatly improve the board imo
Things we used to have in the pre reset and shortly post reset era were

But generally speaking there was just this sort of 'conversational' culture on the board, I can only describe it as more of a fireside chat compared to the board today which feels like 4 people screaming from each corner.
I remember threads where people would just post a picture of themselves in the woods or a park or something and people would respond, want to see more etc

Seriously the board is just a general sex enquiries board now. It didn't used to be like this at all.
Generally speaking the old crowd spoke more about the feeling of loneliness and no gf rather than how to get one too, you didn't have these JUST GET FIT DUDE DO NOFAPORN SSGOMAD or whatever stuff too much either

But mainly it's the kind of culture/users that used to be here. They were genuine nerds and outcasts so they had a bit more of an attention span and a genuine appreciation for things beyond the most basic entry level.
I know I'm being a huge nostalgia fag but I can say for sure that back then you didn't have to do what I refer to as 'tabloid' posting - making a thread with as provocative a title as possible just to get people to look, or really over the top silly posts like

A lot of it is admittedly nostalgia talking because it never was smooth sailing, but I do feel there is an obvious change in the faggotry that goes on here now. It's not the kind of faggotry I like, either.

I don't really, I post on v or fit occasionally but that's about it , I kinda just accept that it's lost. And look back fondly about all the things I made threads on back then which I never could now.
One of my favourite threads I made was about how much I like Halloween , and the vast majority of posts were about monsters and myths, pumpkin carving, autumn, horror movies and vidya to marathon and stuff

Make that same thread now and I predict the first posts would be

Here I can truly be myself and I can post whatever I want to.

I feel you but I think your bleak outlook might be part of the issue. Think about what this board would be like if the pleasent lurkers just posted those threads, it would probably draw out even more lurkers and oldfags and might shift the board atmosphere more towards the old comfy days

It's really discouraging to bother wanting to post most of the time, seeing the types of responses people usually get. I don't blame them for lurking, if they still feel like this is even the same board for them anymore.

That being said, he does have a point. I mostly lurk /v/ and really don't like what I see most of the time, but there's a specific thread that keeps me coming back because it scratches that itch that feels a bit like old /v/ for a while. It might turn out to be a little quarantine general, but a plesant thread coming at a steady schedule might draw some people back out if they feel like they want to contribute their thoughts. It might be a slow starter or a bit of a bumpy ride though.

The threads would die because those old lurkers aren't here anymore. I'm literally only here because a front page thread caught my eye.
