As we all know it is painful to try to become the best. Maybe not always but it does take some sort of special grit to do it in a very short period of time like everyone should thrive to do. You shouldnt want to take take 10 years to get to elite numbers mostly because most people who want to be elite at weightlifting dont want to get that old or even live that long to be frank.
With that in mind I do think literature can help you with your journey. Before it was lonely, somewhat meaningless now it could be more meaningful and you could practice a stronger will which will make your will stronger. Sadly I don't think I should autism-explain my request but I know some people will go out of their way to harass/spam the comments section if I do not.
**What are your favourite mental/ideology books to help you get through lifting with fury?**
Me personally I have listened to James Tiny Vests videos from time to time how he says keep your head up and then George Leeman (in the thumbnail) who I can strongly relate to sent out some powerful messages to me which have helped me increase my efforts and interests in this sport (powerlifting).
When I went to /lit/ some of the good responses were to read Yukio Mishima's Sun and Steel book which I will intend to do. Can someone please improve this list in a sensible manner? Thanks.
>before it was lonely, somewhat meaningless now it could be more meaningful >you could practice a stronger will which will make your will stronger >YOU COULD PRACTICE A STRONGER WILL >WHICH WILL MAKE YOUR WILL STRONGER You have to realize how pointless that sentence is right? Literally all you had to write was, "give me book recommendations"

Only read what you put in stars so Nietzsche, he is very much into individualistic self improvement and is good for anyone Also you have the Greeks which modern civilization has always been mirin
>You shouldnt want to take take 10 years to get to elite numbers mostly because most people who want to be elite at weightlifting dont want to get that old or even live that long to be frank. Usually to be frank means you're saying something SHORT not 3 sentences crammed into one
David Barnes
Neechee is not individualistic. He promotes an aristocratic and slave society.

And I am correct. Listen to George Leeman. This is not an happy sport.

Maybe you dont understand, you see >As we all know it is painful to try to become the best and >Maybe not always but it does take some sort of special grit to do it in a very short period of time like everyone should thrive to do (oh shit did I just renege the only point I've made so far) well anyways >You shouldnt want to take take 10 years to get to elite numbers mostly because most people who want to be elite at weightlifting dont want to get that old or even live that long to be frank. (what am I talking about again?) Moving on, >With that in mind I do think literature can help you with your journey I have no problem with this point >Before it was lonely, somewhat meaningless now it could be more meaningful and you could practice a stronger will which will make your will stronger. I have many problems with this point >Sadly I don't think I should autism-explain my request but I know some people will go out of their way to harass/spam the comments section if I do not. Good job essentially inviting the harrassment then. You should be thankful I'm keeping your mind numbingly stupid post alive

I like to read apocalyptic fiction, military science fiction or dumb robot science fiction. Please help a brainlet try to enlighten himself, there are occasionally interesting moral conflicts in these but I'll admit I'm not high brow.
Andrew Ortiz
Sci-fi is mainly what I read for entertainment. I have a few anthologies that are "classics" and it's pretty cool to see what people thought the future might be like. And yea there's often moral dilemmas weaved in there you can ponder on. Philosophy is really good for learning new ways to think but God damn it's so boring sometimes and some of them get so far up their own ass. I would recommend giving it a shot to see if you like it

To help yourself in general: read ANYTHING.
Please don't take offence to this. There could be some explanations. Perhaps something off with your school system for allowing people to graduate without learning proper English, maybe you are black, or English could be your second language. I don't know. Regardless, you can be proud of yourself for wanting to read books. Congratulations.
But do read, please, LITERALLY ANYTHING.
Saying you have "listened" to videos and relate this to being in the same category as reading goes some way towards explaining your terrible grammar and communication abilities. So start out on grade 6-9 level materials at most. Reading, comprehension and writing skills all go together so don't expect to get as much out of an in-depth philosophical treatise as you would if you had the ability to communicate your formulated ideas in written words. You know, short American Classic books or even children's books. Moby Dick could be a good place to start; read some English written in a way you aren't used to, have you read deeper into metaphors (hopefully) and witness the story of an epic struggle.
Also, don't spam "Ma Thred". It's really pathetic.

I'm currently reading the Bible (usually New King James version), "The Daily Stoic" by Ryan Holiday (good for personal reflection, mentality, and gives quotes from the ancients who sought personal accountability and improvement, and yesterday I started "How to Win Friends and Influence People" (revised) by Dale Carnegie.
I attached a decent pic of some books you might want to check out. Don't take it as political reformation but instead as a new way of determining how YOU fit into society. The first 4 are essential in living more mindfully and giving thought behind your actions. The Prince (Machiavelli) and Leviathan (Hobbes) are goat-tier reads as well.
Last note, NEVER go into a book with the mindset "I want to agree with, and think like, the author". You miss the point of criticism and are instead going from one mindless study to another. You must take notes, reflect, meditate, and compare what you have read to what you have experienced. You won't always be right, you won't always be wrong. You will begin determining what is your truth and start building the foundation to eventually question yourself which then leads itself to deep knowledge and betterment.
for fucks sake there's supposed to be a ')' after "Improvement" on the first line
