Being anonymous makes a big difference. You can say what you really think without fear of being ostracized. Doing something for attention isn’t tied to your real identity so it has no effect on anyone but you.

I've never had social media, only Facebook but I wasn't posting, only for messenger because in my country no-one is using WhatsApp. Then I realised that a lot of events and stuff I'm missing, not only from girls but friends also. I got Instagram now and posting on facebook sometimes, and surprisingly, girls are writing to me, so I think it's good for social gains (still have autism anyway)
