Did a squat session with my bro who was into lifting alot longer before me. I took all the plates off one side and the bar did a flip into the air and broke a mirror.
Never fully recovered

Literally everything he did made me scared. This cannot possibly be real. There's no way two adult people could look at this and think it's ok.

Starting Strength

At what point do you have to start taking some of the weight off of one side and then taking some off the other side? At two plates on squat, I'm still able to take all of it off on one side without the bar tipping, but I think I'm getting close to the point where I will have to start taking some of it off from the other side first. The problem is, I don't want to look like a retard who takes weight off one side when I don't have to but I also don't want to do what you did

Welcome to clown world kiddo, enjoy your stay.

Doing compounds as heavy as I can for 6 days a week with 30 minutes of intense cardio each session WHILE on a keto diet. I looked like emaciated crack addict.

Beat me to it

He was able to do it though. That's more than you can say. Life is about taking risks

Came here to post it

Listen.

I know life is about risk, I know you lose every game you play, but this person did everything wrong.
He locked his knees, he loaded the weight beyond the safety restrictions to a Loony Tunes-level of precariousness, he used his arms to push and he even yanked himself up after the "set".

Yeah, and he walked away from it.

I would also like to know this. Is there a certain weight? I only squat 180lbs but I'm still scared that one day I'm gonna be squatting heavier and I'm not gonna think about it and kill the person on the rack next to me.

Maybe it's just best to make a habit out of it now. Better safe than sorry.

QUAD FOURS
CHECKED.

I was going to continue arguing with you but fuck those quads.

Well since that incident I've learned that you can keep two 20kg/45lbs plates on one side without the bar tipping. Never tried to go any further

2 45s and 15lb is the max on one side before it starts to tip, but this will vary slightly on how wide the rack is

knocked up the trainer.

With me, it happened at 3pl8 when I trained in a public gym, and at 130 kilos in my home gym. I'm chalking it up to the hooks being closer.

Just running the numbers here:
Distance between centre of bar and pivot = 0.66m
Mass of bar = 20kg
Counter-balanced moment = 20g * 0.66 = 129.492Nm

Width of plate = 0.09525m
Mass of plate = 20kg

Moment of plates:
1pl8: 20g * 0.09525m = 18.68805Nm
2pl8: 1pl8 + 20g * 0.1905 = 56.06415Nm
3pl8: 2pl8 + 20g * 0.28575 = 112.1283Nm

Therefore you should be able to balance slightly over 3pl8s on the bar, if you push the bar right to to the hook.
Note: this doesn't account for width of the collar

I miss towelhead

Autism

Hey, don't you talk shit about the based math/engineering poster.

leave one plaet on one side and then you can fit five on teh other side

god damn, I was just waiting for his legs to snap

Is this from AlphaDestiny's NATURALLY ENHANCED?

trucrypt kek

Wth, this is a blue board op

The few inches of leverage throws it all off. Is it possible for you to redo this with the collars included, plus a few inches of play, like if someone re racked it with the other collar tight up against the hook on the other side?

That would be the safe working limit of the amount of of plates. It would also give some room if the collars came loose and the plate aren't touching each other.

10/10

>he's dumb enough to let it happen twice

Autism was asking in the first place.

Hit a 255 max bench while on 4mg of Xanax. I was blacked and I only remember being stuck under the bar and having to tilt it to bail. Then people rushed over to help and I blacked again. But was still barely functional enough to play it off lol

>used the spring weight clips as hand squeezers for stronger grip

FUCK

I dont think anybody saw me tho

I don't think any of this is autism...

That's useful info (he already broke a mirror).

Top kek

benched outside the power rack

The real answer is 3 plates can't balance on a standard rack if the other side is unloaded. It will tip.

It's autistic to worry about other people thinking you are being too careful about removing plates on both sides.

The lesson you should take from the broken mirror is "I will remove weights from alternating sides." instead of "I wonder just how close I can get to doing this again without doing it again."

Nice

The kind of autism that designs your car abd the bridges it drives on. Cope harder brainlet.

leave it

It's also a waste of time to alternate if it's 2 pl8 or under

But yeah, I guess worrying is autisticish

i fucked my ex gf when we were alone

When I was 13, I forgot my water bottle, and it was one of those vacation hotel gyms that are like one single room. There was only a water dispenser, so I cupped my hands to drink from it, when I just realized that there were also dispensable paper cups next to it.

letting a dudebro spot me and telling me "one more bro". I was like "I'm done", INSTEAD this fuccboi pushes my arms up and I literally drop 65 db on my chest, luckily it didn't hurt at all. It dropped on my stronger arm and he said "are you left handed", bitch no.

Jogging/running on an incline every day
It was all fun and games until I woke up and felt the absolute worst pain in my calves

Thanks for the good laugh.

Regardless of the answer to this question, I always keep each side within 1 plate of each other just to be safe.

Front squats with the smith

>use pic related when very first starting out
>rack up counterbalance to maximum weight because big guy pretty tall and broad
>drop knee first onto it and weight causes counterbalance to slam to the top with a CLAAANNNGGG which makes everyone look at me
>try to hurriedly get off whilst still at the bottom, take one knee off and shift weight back
>counterbalance slams back down furiously and flips me over in a backflip and I land face down

Did my first backflip though

Dropped a 295 squat in front of a bunch of qts

This

I had the weight slip off the barbell I was seated OHPing and nearly hit the guy next to me

Attached: DdQmlm8X4AIfrru.jpg (664x421, 42K)

I wiped down the wrong machine after my workout lmao

>What was the stupidest thing you've done in the gym, Jow Forums?
I went for a bench press 20lbs PR with weak wrists and Titan Red Devil training wrist wraps. And when the velcro on the left one snapped open, I continued pressing, with the wrist tilted back.

My left wrist is still fucked up and cannot be repaired, ever.

But at least I benched 330 at 220.

Assisted back flip machine. Impressive.

Followed a friend's routine starting out, behind the neck overhead press and flared shoulder bench presses. Shoulders forever injured

Kek

Damn you benched 20 lbs?

Was it a 6 day ppl?

implying a basement dweller such as himself has driven anywhere outside a videogame

Did deadlifts with shit form for some time years ago. My back is fine but it left me two marks on my legs due to grinding the bar against them. I also got small cuts on my fingers two times due to stupideness, if that's a word.

Didn't going to it when I was younger

why would you even go to the gym on xanax lol completely antithetical to lifting.

haha i can imagine this

Did my first bench press with smith machine, safety pins AND pussy pad because I kept telling myself "safety first". Did real bench a week later though.

3 45s and 1 10lb plate is max for Olympic

>lifting in the outdoor section
>bench press with shit barbell and cast iron weights
>bench has adjustable rack with pegs on lowest setting.
>my arms go above the catches and im stuck shirtless trying to balance the shit so i dont die
>luckily i rack the weight

this was today,

Attached: personnel.jpg (899x899, 289K)

You lost me

For deadlifts I used to put the bar on the lower part of the squat rack, put the weights on, then pick the bar up and put it down. When I finished a set, I'd pick it back up, place it onto the bar, and add on more weights. Then place it on the ground again.

Attached: 1522258972742.jpg (1200x724, 151K)

I did the same things once but thankfully it didn't break a mirror. What a fucking racket though.

damn you're stupid

>leg press gif/webm
NOPE
I think ill pass, you all have a nice day and enjoy your thread.

>For deadlifts I used to put the bar on the lower part of the squat rack, put the weights on, then pick the bar up and put it down
Nothing wrong with doing this though. It's easier to put weights on this way

*Place it onto the rack

This happened to me once years ago when I started lifting at the gym but with a W bar on a curl bench

Luckily I didn't break anything

>wanned to help a woman to take the spring weight clips off a bar
>couldn't do it
>she take the thing off the bar in just one movement

Attached: 151615713856.png (512x384, 125K)

I want this man to die horribly

those look like brad castleberry or whatever his name is fake weights

Years ago did Crossfit with a buddy of mine from work. He was introducing me to handstand pushups against the wall. For some reason I thought it would be a good way to get into position by somersaulting into the wall and stopping when upside-down.
Predictably, I just slammed my back against it and crumpled down. We had a good laugh about it.

I was bored and barred out in my house lmao. This was 3 years ago

A guy on plebbit actually calculated it using statics. 3 plates is the exact point where the bar will topple on its own. Anything over 2 plates though and pressing down on it might cause it to tip

doesn't this depend on where the pin is when you rerack

pin right up to sleeve != pin 8" away from sleeve

>I was blacked

I watched the Madoka finale on a bike.

doing deadlifts and blew a disc. That disc jelly squirted out so fast it made my leg go numb for 6 months by pressing on my sciatic nerve.

Almost had that happen when I was unracking my friend's squats after a 4 pl8. I had taken two off and he hadn't gotten one off yet and I held down the bar before it took flight for a few seconds

Dumbest thing was stopping lifting. Started in 2013 and escaped hungry skelly 126lb mode and got up to normal human mode 150lb by 2015 then just kinda fell off the wagon.

Started again but feelsbadman thinking of what I'd be now if I'd been steady the last few years.

were you doing somthing stupid or just unlucky?

>i went 30 block from home to the gym on summer with some shitty dry heat.
>Did 1h gym
>1h of natation
>went 30block back from the gym to my place
>dad said to go play soccer togheter with his friends
>ok.jpg
>walk again 80 blocks to the place
>played for 3h
went back to my home with my legs destroyed ,took a bath and sleep

>Standing there enjoying the warmth waiting for a free weight bench to be open. No rush, wasn't anywhere near him to be a bother.
>dude across the room on some treadmills jogging sees me
>yells "hey!" and gets my attention
>waves me over
>I walk over to him
>He asks "Why are you standing in here breathing my air?"
>'uhh...'
>"Yeah, you should probably get out and wait don't you think?"
>Just silently leave and go home

Attached: 1514907791373.jpg (670x409, 176K)

You're just a retard.

...I'm doing this except the keto, how fucked am I?

based post

probably moving the plate to the very end of the bar would cause a tip was well. not sure if thats clear from my words.

almost crying the other day thinking about my life
