Was anyone else absolutely fucking retarded when they started out? If you had a ridiculous routine, post it here to the best of your memory, plus the amount of time you followed it. I'd like to hear if anybody can beat mine, because I did this with a Kmart Barbell/Dumbbell set and a Yoga Mat in my bedroom for 3 years.

Day One: Chest/Arms
>Floor Press 8x8
>Dumbbell Curls 8x8
>Dumbbell Flies 8x8
Day Two: Legs
>Squat 8x8
>Dumbbell Axe Chops 8x8
>Dumbbell Side Raises 8x8
Day Three: Back
>Romanian Deadlift 8x8 (I thought this was a proper deadlift)
>Dumbell Sit-up 8x8
>Plank 3 mins (I am certain I would not have had a straight back for this one)

For the big compounds I started at 20kg and got to 60 by the end, for the dumbbells I had 15kg but in the last year had to downgrade to 7.5 because the 15's weren't mine.

I did PPL

I also did PPL recommended by my dyel twink trainer at the time.

I had quit three times each lasting a month because I would stall on every retarded machine exercise and would get unmotivated.

Years later at the age of 25 I decided to get more serious, found out about the importance of compound movements and have been consistently lifting ever since (I am 27 now).

First time grabbing a barbell I didn't knew how to seal them
The plates fled away and they went next to a chad squad, they stared at me with blank stare ,they were laughing of course and moved away

Man I'm such a brainlet and I was 18 at the time

PPL is great advice. If you stuck with it you would've had a greater physique. You were not doing it right, likely not progressive overloading.

I don't disagree, but it wasn't very interesting to me at the time. Now, I would do all those machine exercises as accessories because I know that they will help me with my main heavy compound lifts.

I made my own routine because I didn't want to try any exercises I didn't know
Did done dumbell squats, bench, planks, and finished with some cardio
I quit because of doms, this was a year ago

After 5x5 i wanted to switch to 5/3/1 but for some reason i thought this would be a good idea:
Mon
>squats
>bench
Tue
>deadlift
>ohp
Thu
>squat
>bench
Fri
>deadlift
>ohp
All 5x5. Including assistance lifts every time.
I didnt progress much but kept it going two months.

I think mine might be the most retarded.
I would just go into the gym at random and try maxing different random moves because the internet told me low reps and big maxes were good.

ah god i dont even want to think about it. i did this retarded routine based on compound movements and stupid shit.

so glad i finally got on some real shit that focuses on toning and tummy fat loss. machines> barbells

ps fruitarian diet actually provides more protein than a meat based one

Doms is only temporary, if you quit because of it you must have only made it like a week

I think this is way more common than people think. Fit acts like some niche reddit lifts are what normies do but really half the time its stuff like this. I learned to lift from family at a really young age but if I hadn't this is honestly probably what I would have done my first time in the gym.

I'm just starting out, how can i not be retarded? Going for aesthetics.

I did.. I did starting strength ;(

I modified Coolcicada's routine and it was probably way too much volume for a natty.
It was something like this but I also worked 3 sets of arms instead of 2 lol

I was killing it and making good progress for months until I stalled then I got sick and all my gains were JUSTed away.

Idk how but I managed this while doing a very physical labor job

Unironically doing SS all over again to get back into things

My routine was something like this:
A
>Squat 3x5
>Bench 3x5
>Power cleans 5x3
>Chinups 3xF

B
>Squat 3x5
>Press 3x5
>Deadlift 1x5
>Chinups 3xF

The only stupid thing was drinking so much milk and getting fat desu.

great laff

what's wrong with ppl

This has actually been my routine for a while and I progressed just fine

>focuses on toning and tummy fat loss

what the fuck?

Mine was Situps 6xFailure Push ups 5xFailure and Chinups 4xFailure + running 20min this is was normie garbage and a waste of time

First year i just did machines. I would just randomly circle from machine to machine after 3 sets. Would work out for an hour per time. Made some gains. From 60 to 67 kg

>Was anyone else absolutely fucking retarded when they started out?
aka twink faggots that don't do SS from the very beginning

Started lifting in 2004 at 16, just doing bodypart split monday through to friday. chest/back/legs/shoulders/arms

Yeah I did SS

hi mom

This was my experience with some fuck-ass bodybuilding program, loads of supersets and different machine exercises that demand I run all over the shithole Planet Fitness I was training at.

I quit for years, just got back into it on Stronglifts and am loving it.

My beginner routine:

30 minutes of interval running, then...
>Push
Bench press
Close grip bench press
Push ups to failure
>Pull
Cable horizontal rows
Lateral pull downs
Concentration curls
>Legs
Leg press
Leg extensions
Leg curls
>Core
Crunch machine
Abdominal twist machine
Cable wood chops

Rotate
No rest days

I did this for a year. All 4x8, more or less

Upper body day:
- bicep curls
- OHP
- bench press
- bench flies

Lower body day:
- squats
- deadlifts
- weighted glute bridges / hip thrusts
- hamstring curls
- sometimes ab crunches

It actually wasnt that bad IMHO, dont you agree?

Attached: 1260585284155.png (523x472, 30K)

I did full body routine 7 days a week with random exercises for 2 hours everday. I mean I still made sick gains but it pretty dumb.

Heavy deadlifts three to four times a week on random days with weeks of no training in between. Absolutely no other lifts ever.

Pics?
I want to see your pear shaped body.
Dat fat ass and chunky lower torso with waif thin upper body and calves

I remember doing bro split and I had a separate "arms day" where I did like 5~ exercises for triceps and biceps. And my only compound was flat bench.
Oh shit my first year was such a waste.

>Worked out a year before doing compounds
Are you fucking serious?
I was a slow learner and it only took me 3 months to graduate to stronglifts

That was more of a general statement. I incorporated compounds faster than a year, but still did a lot of different mistakes, especially with the food that I might not even count that year as "been lifting" if anyone asks how much I've been doing this.

Oh boy here I go:

A: Chest, triceps

Bench press 5-3-1
Dumbbell flies 3x10
Push-ups 3xF
Tricep pushdowns 2x12-1x10
Skullcrusher with a straight bar 2x12-1x10

B: Back, biceps

Bent-over rows 3x8
Reverse flies 3x10
Lat pulldown 2x12-1x10
Barbell curls 3x10
Dumbbell curls 2x12-1x12

C. Delts, legs, abs

Overhead press 5-3-1
Dumbbell front raise 2x12-1x10
Lateral raise 2x12-1x10
Dips 3xF(yeah, I thought dips worked delts the most)
Squats 3x10
Calf raises 3xF

20 minutes of cardio before every workout

ABCxABCx

Ate at a maintenance. Fell for the anabolic window thing and ate bread with vinger right after my workouts for some reason.

Here's worst one when i was a teen: Arnold's Golden Six with dumbbells, because i was scared of barbells.

what did he mean by this

He's obviously a shitskin or based asian friend.
Translation: I didn't know how to use a barbell collar so my plates fell off and that embarrassed me in front of the gym's roid abusers, who were lifting near me

G-guys I'm doing Jason Blahas 5x5. Am I gonna m-make it?

Attached: 160927210830-tk-ah0927-exlarge-169.jpg (780x438, 35K)

I did the same machine circuit every day.

Attached: doomed.png (200x280, 230K)

I was doing push ups like an idiot 4 times/week. Got pretty far with the variations and gave myself a really nice shoulder imbalance since I was doing 0 pulling movements. I wised up, bought a pull up bar and started an actual routine.
