I don't like dumb ones. I see them as useful for triaging out bullshit. They're not a replacement for doctors though, yet many NPs don't seem to believe this. 18-24 months of online school after getting. BSN is not equivalent to MD + residency and board certification. The main problem with the NPs is that many don't realize the depth of stuff that they DON'T know, and fail to realize their limitations. They've been given the "nursing version" of education their entire education and training. Chem 1 and 2 for nurses, microbiology for nurses, etc. These tend to be much less rigorous courses that their counterparts designed for pre-med students. This is completely fine for RNs. The problem is when the RN wants to go on to act as a physician equivalent. They just tend to have a much weaker base in physiology and basis sciences, and they are usually completely unaware of this deficit.

Mid levels have a role, but I'm really wary of the trend to market them as discount doctor equivalents.

Here in the UK they're really upping the numbers of nurse practitioners/specialists. Its kind of annoying working with some of them, as they have a superiority-complex over other nurses, and feel like they're on the same level of you despite having done a tiny portion of the education. They dont understand theyre basically used because doctors are expensive

using drugs that are cleared through the kidneys when they're impaired is a hella good way to fuck your shit up
