I’m on a diet and trying to be healthier, so I wanted to know where I’m starting from. What bf am I roughly?

You probably are about 20% or more, maybe 19%. As a general rule ( doesn't always apply), but if you have a gut, you're probably around 20% or over. If you are kinda lean but no abs, then 17%. If you are lean, can kinda see a six pack, but cuts aren't very pronounced, basically just like lines drawn with a pen you're 15%. I know this, cause I was like you and thought I was 17%, but actually was like 20 and it took me like 2 months to at least get rid of the gut somewhat. But I mean people carry fat differently, so you never know, so just stop giving a fuck about your bf and start lifting.

First of all, you shouldn't be at calories this low when you start cutting. Should have started with 500 kcal deficit, then waited till you get a week where you maintain or lose very little weight, then subtracted 100 kcal or added a cardio session. This way you could cut for a long time while constantly losing weight

I only need 2000 kcals to maintain weight so 1500 is a 500 kcal deficit for me, I might add exercise to lose it a bout faster

Can I get an estimate too? 6'5", 215lb down from 275lb, I can hit 1/2/3/4 for 3x5 and 1x5 for diddies but I've never trained core so i'll probably never have abs unless im like 9%
