What sport did you play growing up?

what sport did you play growing up?
what will you try to engage your children in playing?

i played soccer and tennis as a kid. my only regret is not committing myself entirely to wrestling, since its not only imposisble to find out of schoo, you can easily beat 99% of untrained men in a fight with good wraslsing

I wrestled all throughout high school. Although I wish I took it more seriously, trained harder, dropped more weight etc. I can't help but feel that it was the greatest decision of my life. I attribute pretty much all my success to it. I'm gonna make my son try it at the least

same desu. tho I think tennis have given me an almost inhuman handeye coordination, it's not really that useful. I guess choking dudes out isnt all that useful either, and I spent 8 years in the navy...

Did soccer and martial arts growing up, did wrestling and soccer in Hs, wish i started wrestling freshman year instead of soccer then wrestling.

If you have kids i recommend wrestling later, but don't have those little fuckers cut weight, wrestle up a class and just be stronger.

Football prob not good for your brain growing up. But this is the future, i'd have my kids doing bjj and mma just for self defense, then a field team sport like soccer.

Oh and i'ma make my little nigs lift too

Swimming since I was 5, otter mode is the only thing I ever knew

World of Warcraft

Definitely tennis and cross country. I’d emphasize outdoor, cardiovascular stuff over lifting.

I tried wrestling my junior year of highschool and it was pretty fun, although I got pneumonia a week after practice started and was bed ridden for 2 weeks. Went from 138lbs to 118~ at 5'9". After I felt "better" I decided to go to practice again, which was a terrible mistake since I could barely go up a set of stairs without being out of breath, and after a week of this absolute hell I managed to get a fucking hernia. Decided all that was a sign to stop wrestling.

Submitted too early:
But I'd love to get my kids involved in wrestling, a hell of a lot sooner than I discovered it

Rugby and Sailing.
Would love to get back into sailing and get them into it

I just wanted to go home after school and jerk off. The idea of sticking around school for another two hours wasn't on the agenda.

As a kid, I played Baseball, Soccer, and Tennis. I really liked tennis but my mom didn't want to look into tennis programs for elementary/middle school kids, and my dad thought it was a fag's sport. He tried to get me into swimming, because I liked playing in the water, but fuck I hate racing.

When I got into high school, I did join the tennis team. I was the only one in my class, and I was decent by the end of it, but I wish I had been doing all my childhood.

Also, my dad was right, tennis is a fag's sport and that's how I met my first boyfriend

Been playing water polo since I was 13. Used to play football (soccer) too but now just do it for fun.
I'll encourage my kids to play it too, but if they turn out to be part of the 99% who aren't into it, I don't care as long as they're committed to at least one sport at a competitive level.

>force your son to play a sport that requires extreme weight cuts while they still developing and growing

And you wonder why your sons will be manlets

Pic related is a wrestling bod

I wrestled through middle and high school and i'm 6ʹ 5ʺ

I played Cricket, basketball and indoor soccer as a kid.

Never committed at all. Now I play baseball and love it. Definitely getting my kids into baseball

>cutting weight in wrestling before high school level
Are you some sort of retard?

I played water polo for one year in hs and I hated it, but goddamn if it wasn't the most lean I've ever been. It's the only time I ever had abs.

Where in that post does it mention HS

And you do realize you're still growing high school

I swam and did a little track. I wish I pushed myself in track cause I was nice in swimming.

It really is a love it or hate it sport. Most people find it boring.

Cutting weight is fine if done properly in the off season. Any skilled wrestler has a good idea of their competition weight way before the season starts.

Basketball. I try not to think about it I was an edgy autist and quit the team when my coach benched me. Then they got me to come back and the whole season was awkward. We also only won like 2 games lmao

Went to a lot of swim meets during elementary, soccer during middle school, then rowing for most of high school.

If I had to pick one to force on my children it'd probably be rowing. Impossible not to cut a good figure while doing it, even with the garbage I ate. Also forces genuine teamwork by design, as long as your cockswain isn't a raging cunt you and your teammates get along famously.

Basket ball and ping pong if that counts. I was a in a tennis club for a year of HS, but I quit it because i just liked basket ball and found it easier.

Oh and golf with my dad. So I will probably play golf with my son.

Main reason I didn't do wrestling was cuz I saw this kid's fucked up ear and didn't want any part of that

pussy

>cutting weight for wrestling is bad
>cutting for fitness is ok

mate its just losing fat

cauliflower ear is alpha. I hope I get it soon from training BJJ/judo

alpha, sexy, thicc, solid, tight ears

These guys look like dark souls characters

Cricket, soccer, gymnastics, tkd, hurdles and climbing.

Kids will do judo if for no other reason than learning to fall will save hospital bills. Gymnastics is great for overall body awareness and balance too

No one is saying that

It's just stupid to force a 14 yo male cut down down to 120 over and over again and think it won't affect his end stage adult height

Make your kids do swimming instead

is that a pic from 2010

Nothing because I was poor and didn’t have a car. My mom would rather spend money on cigarettes than a case of bottled water, so I couldn’t even “work out” at home. It sucks being insecure because of your body all throughout high school when you can’t even do anything about it. Before that, I lived right by the football field and I played and I was pretty damn good, but high school was just heard of wasting away. Maybe part of it was me not having motivation, idk, I don’t know what I could have accomplished, but I still hated those years of feeling weak and over-aware of my self.

same. I would definitely encourage them to wrestle at a young age and hopefully get them on the weights too. cant wait to have a son (or a daughter that is a mega tomboy) so I can teach them all the shit that I wish I would have known/done at that age

Bud wrestlers I knew would severely cut calories and dehydrate themselves to make weight. No way it was good for a developing body. It wasn't just "lol not gonna eat chips" it was more "I'm having 1 meal today and it's a carrot".

Fencing, its lots of fun and you feel like a pirate, i probably wont get my kids to do it though, not till they are older, high school at least. I'd rather they do a team sport to get good socialisation.

Before High School my dad would take my brothers and I down to the track to do sprints every summer. It really helped me develop good running form and general athleticism. We also played tennis and went swimming. When I got to high school I started playing football(American) and lacrosse and that built up fitness coupled with basic weight training made me look like a freak athlete to my peers. I’m definitely gonna encourage my kids to play lacrosse and let them play football if they want but I’m also gonna do the same shit my dad did and make sure they’re well rounded.

Wrestled for 12 years, from 1st grade throug senior year. Started taking it a lot more serious my sophomore year and ended up winning region twice and runner up once. Never placed in state though, I always feel like I could’ve trained harder and practiced longer.

I definitely want my kid to try it out. I attribute a lot of my discipline and success from the lessons wrestling taught me. If you can force yourself to avoid eating a couple a days then you can force yourself to do anything.

Tennis for at least 15 years. Junior years were hell being surrounded by spoiled rich white boys that call every close ball out. Junior tournaments were pretty lonely. D1 tennis was real fun though. Great conditioning; developed sexy forearms and calves during my years. It also helped me develop mental fortitude; you learn how to deal with yourself when playing several 1 1/2 - 2+ hour matches.
I did sustain several injuries and asymmetrical muscle development over the years. I'm not sure if it was worth it in the end.

soccer, wrestling, and tennis too...weird

This

Anything they're interested in. I'm definitely getting a trampoline for the backyard though. I miss having one so much.

Sports are fucking gay lmao

>what sport did you play growing up?
In school, track and soccer. In my own time, skateboarding and bmx.

>what will you try to engage your children in playing?
Probably a contact sport like martial arts and boxing. And make them pick one of their own choosing once they grow a personality.

Same and now I hugely regret it. Don't let your kids sit around on the computer. I really wish my parents hadn't been so lax with me.

2x state champ wrestler standing by (yeah, ok, it was a small state, fuck you)

Definitely getting my sons into wrestling. I won't be an asshole about it but I'll praise it to high heaven and make sure they know how much work it takes to be good.

Lineage 2 here, sports are for faggots

True field sports are good for sprinting/cardio which is usually fucking boring. I was heavily depressed until i played lacrosse and began running around every day

I swear swimming makes you taller too if you do it throughout your youth. I have two cousin swimmers, their non-blood uncle is shorter than me, and they're both like 6' 5" - I'm 6 foot.

I really liked being exposed to a week a wrestling in freshman year gym class. However when I saw they had to wear the singlet for competition I changed my mind. The wrestling coach rubbed me the wrong way. I just discouraged myself from doing things and saying stuff like sports are gay. Didn't take fitness seriously until senior year.

Defiantly going to encourage my kids to try wrestling .

what's going on in this webm please

Brraaappp

Why is she feeling his pulse and the guy is acting nonchalant?

You can still get pretty good results with BJJ or Judo and not need to be in high school to get good training.

Basketball. It was the only ball sport I was good at, I really suck at volleyball.

wresting and football.

did swimming and badminton as a kid but quickly switched to lifting only as a teenager
I will probably get my kids into swimming - low injury risk, overall healthy and probably a good way to heightmax if you let them eat enough to recover well

Track and field. It was fun, challenging and kept me fit, but also pretty skinny. I competed until I was 18. In addition to that I was a member of a sports club, where we really just did a mix of all sports there are, so we played soccer, field hockey, basketball, went swimming, did gymnastics or just played shit like dodge ball, etc.

Swimming, 6-7 and 12. Rugby, 8-13. Tennis, 12-16. Jitsu, 15-17, a bit more later. Dancing, when very young and only briefly.
And basketball, 3-4 days a week but not coached if that counts, 15-17.

Some of these definitely helped in terms of things like socialisation, hand-eye coordination, and just having a more active childhood.

Looking back, getting into the Jiu-Jitsu much earlier, or judo or wrestling, would have been awesome. Also finding something I liked enough to stick with, even better if it was a bit niche, to get to a high level.

So I'd encourage my kids to at least try martial arts (grappling), and make it possible for them to try things early they might not otherwise. And try introducing those things in play/entertainment.

Growing up I did boxing

m8 I've done judo since I was 6 (15 yrs) and still never had a collie
>inb4 never trained hard
I competed at international level several times
