Redpill me on set point theory

Is this why it's so fucking hard to get lean for some people while others are literally always lean their entire lives? What the fuck is going on here? Is there a way to fuck with your brain to make leaning out easier?

''''''''''theory'''''''''

obviously your brain controls your weight but unless you're a materialist determinist you should think you can control your brain

It's an excuse for fat fucks to be fat. If this nonsense had any legitimacy the "obesity epidemic" wouldn't exist as those with a fat fuck set point woupd always have been fat fucks since time immemorial. Not just in the last 50 years or less.

Why? I think the theory can account for that. Obesity is largely causes by calorically dense, highly palatable foods like cookies, cake, donuts, crackers, chips etc. Basically, foods containing tons of sugar uncoupled from its fiber and tons of added fat and salt. I'd imagine eating food like this would change the way your brain signals to the rest of your body.

True, but metabolism is not really something we can control the behavior of. If metabolic changes are induced by the brain in response to us trying to change our weight, what exactly would it be suggested that we do?

>True, but metabolism is not really something we can control the behavior of.

100% wrong

if this was accurate then we wouldn't even have nearly as many fatties
fatties we no longer register in our mind when we see them were considered circus freaks 100 years ago
we just havent evolved to have all that instant gratification available to us 24/7
and so we become constantly
desensitized to it and have to get more gratification for the same chemical reward
but we justify it because otherwise the emotional pain would be too severe

It is? How so?

if you could eat less than what you need while not losing weight, you're literally contributing to ending world hunger

>fatties we no longer register in our mind when we see them were considered circus freaks 100 years ago
Examples?

Tell me more about the people whose natural set point is 600lb. Then you can explain to me how those people didn't exist 50 years ago.

this was a fatman "freakshow" 100 years ago

I don't think that's actually what the theory implies or is saying at all.

Frank Williams, circus freak ca. 1880's
Today he would be without a job

Metabolism (BMR) does not decrease and hunger does not increase with starvation.
It actually increases, while hunger steadily decreases.

healthy boi

These are still fat fatties by today’s standards. The way you implied it, these people shouldn’t even be considered fat today.

They aren't by burger standards. They'd be "husky men". In their era they were literal freaks that people paid money to gawk at.

Having trouble finding the study, there is a bit of truth to it, the body hates losing calories, but its blown out of proportion. If you cut weight after a year or so your body will have completely adapted to the new weight.

Mid west burger here, basically not as fat as southerners but still fat.
This is the low end of fat as fuck here. So fucking fat but nothing to gawk at. Youll see it a few times a fay especially in low income areas

partly true but party false
jason fung has a good explanation of this

when you reduce your calories in, over time your body also reduces its caloric expenditure, making it harder to lose weight
^ especially if you're still eating a bunch of carbs and the insulin is preventing your fat stores being utilized

but fatties read that and say:
>once youre x size your body tries to stay that way and you can't lose weight

no you fat fuck just cut carbs

You are your brain.

>Your brain has the ability to warp reality to the point where you become an ubermensch capable of ignoring the laws of thermodynamics.

Can that brain self-determinate its essence?

That is not what he implied.

You're a fucking moron if you think that was what he implied.

>True, but metabolism is not really something we can control the behavior of. If metabolic changes are induced by the brain in response to us trying to change our weight, what exactly would it be suggested that we do?
Exercise will up your catabolism by its very essence. That is why people do it to increase their metabolism past their resting metabolism. Anyone can have a high metabolism even if they have a bad thyroid.
As for huger, it's a feeling you can go with or ignore, not an unbreakable geas.

dee n pee

You can move more to increase the amount you burn, you just get less motivated when leaning out.
