See ya boys

Fucking love you brahs but I’m going full monk mode meaning no more technology for me. I’m also going to become celibate. Let’s see how long I last. Hopefully for the rest of my life. Ask me anything.

>no more tech
>celibacy
so only change you're making is less Jow Forums? cool dude

I have done this for 6 months or so.
No music or tv drove me fucking insane.
I had so little fun that my mind went crazy and I would literally stress out all day long, to the point that I could barely sleep.

What is monk mode?

What are you changing about your life and why?

Why do you want to be celibate?

I'm the dude from I got to a point where I meditated 2/3 hours a day or more.

It's extremely overrated, basically glorified sleeping best case scenario, or just blatantly stressing out about shit, with no benefit for you at all in the worst case.

You should actually move to a monastery or zen center for a few months. the silence, chores, and meditation will fix you.

Just close your eyes and listen. They tell you not to let your mind wonder and focus on your breathing but that’s bullshit. Just listen to your mind. Ask yourself questions like “What is my mind trying to tell me?”
Kek, pretty much
That happened to me before but I feel like I’m so much mentally stronger now. I know what I want, I see the plot, I feel like I’ve opened my third eye.

Can not relate.
I was REALLY insecure and I couldn't stop stressing out 24/7.
Humans were made to enjoy sensual stimulation, in it's absence you will reach unhealthy levels of insecurity and paranoia.

I’m basically becoming a monk. I want to rid myself off all these useless things that are wasting my life. I’m becoming celibate just for the challenge and because porn and masturbation has ruined my life and I want to remove it from my life once and for all.

there has to be some balance my doggies

I know what you mean. I’ll still lift and read books, work, and do my usual hobbies like painting. I guess it’s not full monk mode but you’re right, the mind needs to be stimulated. I just want it to be stimulated by the right things. Basically, I want to drain the swamp that is my mind and be reborn.

Not really very good advice.
Here's some better advice, I'm still the guy from Anything past 30 minutes and you WILL wander off.
The only advice is to feel your breathing and make it feel good, switch focus points when you get tired of one.
For example, when you get tired of your nose, focus on belly, than lungs, then nose again, etc, keep cycling as you get tired of each.
Take deep breaths at first, and then just breathe naturally, an occasional deep breath can help.

I want to join you OP

Yeah, I mean, this happened to me because I went full Buddhist and cut off ALL sensual pleasure, music, looking at girls, you name it. Very. bad. idea.

Fasting helps a lot. Good luck.

That’s too much for me. My goal is basically to “clean” my mind. Like I feel like my mind is a computer full of viruses but the difference is you can’t throw away your mind unless you suicide and I don’t want to do that
You’re right bro but than again, there’s no true way of meditating. As long as you’re at peace with yourself at the end, you should be alright.

Fasting changes my mood; I become a lot more agitated.

The best sessions I had were when I realized that basically, meditating is getting high on oxygen.

Just breathe really deep and feel it.
Good luck to you.

Do it slowly. I started to int fast. Then I went to dry fast. Shit was hard as fuck. But when I water fasted, idk man your body heals super fast when you get the sleep. Try it.

>these useless things that are wasting my life
>porn and masturbation has ruined my life
...so instead you are going to become a monk, because that's NOT wasting your life?
Sure, whatever. You do you.

This is the best advice in the thread. Relax your eyes and jaw as well. I was shocked how tense I was with both when I first started meditating.
Wandering is natural. When you notice just make a mental note of it and go back to breathing

You aren't going to last longer than a week.

I made a mistake when I said full monk mode. I’m just taking all the good qualities of being a monk and applying it in my life.

Do you get joy from putting other people down?

Thank you :)

I got this from Ajahn Geoff (Master Geoff) he's an american monk who trained in Thailand.

This is his channel.

Ah, like Kwai Chang Caine.

Exactly

Yes, buddhist monks eat once a day, sleep very little, meditate 10+ hours and follow 227 monastic rules.

This is Ajahn Geoff I mentioned in

I'm sure becoming a monk sounds cool, and a way out of your own weakness.
I garuntee it wont fix your issues. You will always wonder about meaning regardless of what you do.

I would suggest instaed of only abstaing from the bad, you should focus on what you see as good and worth your time.

Exactly, that’s what I’m trying to do

Live music is a million times better anyway

just do mma
