Infosec is different because there area a lot of kids who spend all of their days just productively fucking around on their computer. I had a colleague from my military days who ended up hiring people for the NSA and he told me a bulk of his hires were kids who did nothing but sit in their parents basement and coded 24/7. College grads were worthless. These type of people are also favorable because they are new to the professional field and are easy to mold. College grads dont know shit, which is the oppside of these neets. The neets have skill and zero expectations. These are for only entry level positions, though. Requirements are different for guys like me. Pay is shit for the skill that those entry applicants have as well, but that is always how it is for entry level.

At any rate, if you wanna be a hackerman, read books. It is a field that is basically an arms race and schools cannot teach new shit fast enough. Get the latest version of windows internal's and go crazy. I'd also recommend practical reverse engineering by dang, gazet, and bachaalany. This is all intermediate reading, though. If you don't know shit about low level programming or programming in general, you need to start from there.
