how does flexibility gains work?
is stretching to do the splits for 7 hours one day the same as stretching for an hour every day for a week? Do you NEED someone to push you down?

Stretching does not do anything except make you more accustomed to pain. It doesn't change your bone structure. It doesn't change your tendons or joints.
t. inflexible
is this a meme
you bet
bullshit lol, if you were put under anesthetics you still wouldn't be able stretch as much as if you were to do consistent stretch training. tendons being short and being lengthened with long term stretching is actually a thing as your bone does not actually stop growing until the moment you die, not in your 20s
Stretching rearranged your muscles and tendons on a cellular level (your sarcomeres are the very tiny grabber hands that allow your muscles to shorten, and need to be rearranged to allow for a longer stretch than you are used to) which is why it must be done consistently and with devotion. And stretching for 20minutes every two days will not work if you spend the other 23 hours and 40 minutes back at your old habits.
streching 30 minutes every second day is enough , your tendons need to recover as well. You might can do all flexing yourself if you're creative enough.
pro-tip:
Mix in dynamic and static stretching
Don't stretch before working out too
t. used to do martial arts and lots of high kicks shits
>Don't stretch before working out too
Really? why does every gym teacher and soccer coach so to do stretches
If you do explosive move, streched muscles are more prone to injury.
A lot of Gym teacher haven't updated their knowledge though, hence the dogma to strech before work out.
>Don't stretch before working out too
This is actually a complete meme and not true whatsoever.
I can't even touch my toes. Someone pls help me ;_;
dynamic stretching before, static after
do static stretching and then go lifting let's see if your strength is the same
every time that i stretched before wrestling i got hurt
every time I didnt i was fine

nah I used to think the same but stretching can actually fatigue the muscles like fuck, you should just be loosening up your joints and getting the blood flow into your muscles with some mobility excercises before lifting then stretching after
Your bone structure and joints don't need to change, they already have more range than your tendons could ever stretch, also yes, a function of tendons is to increase in length, retard.
t. user with poor range of motion & posture*
*also likely in pain
Is lifting for 7 hours in one session better than lifting 7 sessions for an hour?
this. it's honestly baffling how fucking dumb some people on this board can be.
Post proof then.
>tfw ballerina
>seeing all this cluelessness
Why in the world would you stretch for 7 hours? You'll only injure yourself. 20 - 30 minutes AFTER training is enough. And warm your legs up properly first, do some jogging on the spot and pulling your knees up as high as you can, a little to the side and normal position for 10 - 15 minutes.
Do it then. I tore a muscle fiber after 5 minutes when I had the stupid idea to shorten my warm-up time, tell us how long you'll last without any warm-up at all.
Stretching is not warming up. Why do people equate the two of them? To warm up you do a light version of the same movements you're warming up for. Not putting stress on your joints.
Quote the part where I said it was.
>smug roastie
>massive faggot
pick one
Then follow your advice in . Just go into the split as far as you can without warming up first, and do it with light movements.
Also google for good physiotherapists in your area.
Streching doesn't mean trying to gain range of motion in your joints gently.
It means pushing your rom to your max and stay there to get accustomed to this max and push just a lil'bit further to widen your max rom.

You warm up by getting your heart rate up and getting blood in muscles that you are going to soon be using. Stretching does neither of these things. It's basically wive's tale territory at this point.
>suggesting ballistic stretching
We aren't in the 80's anymore, grandpa.
I work construction and everyone always marvels at how I can lift or do any exercise with very little warm up.
>mfw your body isn't ready 24/7/365
all you did was repeat what was already said
I have many times and im stronger than you
Coincidence
I dont disagree with dynamic whatsoever and do it daily
>Do it then. I tore a muscle fiber after 5 minutes when I had the stupid idea to shorten my warm-up time, tell us how long you'll last without any warm-up at all.
I dont think you understand what I wrote or maybe even what you wrote
agreed
"no"
Heres my overall point and clarification.
1: I never said I was against Dynamic stretching even though some of you morons seem to have thought that. Im saying you should Dynamic stretch with movemnts to get that fluid going in all your joints before lifting 100%.
2: My main point was around static stretching and the fear that doing static stretches before lifting is bad.
3: It isnt bad and ill explain.
There was to the best of my knowledge only ever a single study done on this phenomena, the way it was conducted was people stretched their quads for 60 seconds holding a deep stretch, then immediately with zero rest jumped up and hoped on a leg extension machine and attempted a 1rm on it. And sure enough it was less then prior to the stretching. After that everyone and their mother said hurr durr dont static before lifting.
Obviously lots of flaws with this. First off in all honestly most people wont be holding a very deep stretch for 60 seconds. And second off most wont spiring to their feet and sprint to DL Squat Bench etc
In closing im not even saying that you should static before a workout, after works great. Im just saying the cult around never doing it before is misguided.
