Dude, running is so bad for you. Just get a bike, it’s a great way to burn calories

>dude, running is so bad for you. Just get a bike, it’s a great way to burn calories
When did you realize biking was a meme and running is the only option for cardio?

op is a fag

t. Fat cyclist

Based OP, only fat fucks choose cycling over running. Why not do both? If you have to choose one though go for running.

Both are good for health. However if you actually want to look good then you must lift.

Suck some more cock OP. I do both.

Lift + Run = God mode

>yeaha dood just fuck up your joints and bones and legs completely lmao

Does anyone do fencing for cardio? Theres a newbie-friendly club at my college and I'm thinking about joining this semester.

>tfw bike 10 miles a day to and from subway for work
>50 miles a week biking
>already 135 lbs

You need to eat like a mutherfucker

You need the go a lot farther with a bike to get the equivalent caloric burn from running, so what that functionally translates to is instead of running a mile or two or three the average joe elects to ride their bike a mile or two or three, which combined with the sedentary lifestyle and a common diet would lead to the phenomena that OP is poking fun at.

Based

And you can also coast long distances which effectively burns no calories

Me and my gf ride once a week, usually 60+ miles. Then later I ejaculate inside of her vagina (unprotected, of course.)

Running for focused cardio, bike for enjoyment.
You can get places with bike and not be sweaty as fuck when you arrive, cardio is just an added benefit

Runners:
>Blown out knees
>Blown out spine
>Look like Holocaust survivors
>Unironically spend several hundred on "running" sneakers
>Limited to several miles

Cyclists:
>Blown out lumber area
>Giant T-Rex legs
>Unironically spend hundreds of dollars on "cycling" shoes and bike maintenance
>Get to travel many miles if they want, must haul water and shit

Both have become money making gimmicks for normies desu. I choose biking because asthma is difficult to run with. Recently the bike shop I go to hooked me up with a carbon framed Fuji for 600 and I've literally busted a nut on it already it's amazing

>bicycling
>running
fucking plebs

>carbon road bike for 600

ah fuck off

>the virgin runner
>the chad swimmer

I used to weigh around 375 lbs. Biking was great, safe cardio that was easy on the knees.

Now at 285 lbs I realized biking is gay. You can just coast long distances, and half the time you're going downhill anyway.

Walking is just fine for cardio. Weight loss comes from diet anyway.

>5 mile ride to work, 5 miles back
>way there is pretty much all downhill, takes 15 minutes
>900 foot elevation to get back up home and takes 25 minutes

buy a mountainbike

That isnt a row machine

My dad did in the 80s he said it was great so boomer recommend

Running tears your joints to shred

Lifting+Swimming+Row Machine is the ticket to strong city

10 miles is basically nothing.. like literally less than 30 minutes on average...

20 miles per hour isn't average unless you cycle as a sport

Sprinting is the true chad cardio

ffs someone shoop some sips in those bottle holders.

nah fucking sloots is

You work at Subway? Lol

Was thinking the same shit. Dude's a dumbass. I cycle, and can keep that up for MAYBE 10 minutes, but that would be on a fully clear track. I ended up losing 80lbs over a summer of biking around 80 miles a week in my free time, so it absolutely does work.

Anyone have any recommendations for a bike? I'm a poor fucker with a budget of about $200. Mostly I'll be riding in town, occasionally on smooth gravel.

Get a vintage road bike and fix it up

hell yeah, do it. I joined my college fencing club and it's a great workout, and fun, too. Though it does work one of your legs more than the other, it should be fine if you keep lifting on your own.

sorry you are slow and dont have a decent bike

Watch out or he might spit on your sandwich.

Tfw can't coast

Why not both?
and swimming?
and in general anything.

I love cardio.

>doing cardio ever

> nobody ITT has mentioned bikerunning, literally the best cardio with none of the downsides
Fucking rejects, the lot of you.
> hop on exercise bike, spin up for 5 minutes
> aggressive hill climb for 40 minutes until you almost can't pedal anymore
> spin down for 5 minutes to push out lactic acid
> get off the bike, running shoes on, go out and run 3-4 miles at a good pace
> no blown out knees from running long distances
> no blown out hips from cycling too much
> strong legs
> pushes both your aerobic and anaerobic threshold

If done properly it is a beasting but it is absolute God tier cardio

You sound like a dunce

You give minimal effort so you stay mediocre. Run.
Dyel

My friends and I have done this over the years, and it's tended to end up the same way - within months, minor costs start to add up, mechanical issues we didn't know enough to spot would start appearing, and two years later it's unrideable without costly part replacements. If you do go the 2nd hand route, it'd probably be best if you had a knowledgeable friend to bring along.

public transportation is a fine career path.

>muh joints

god these 30yo boomers ... just go to the doctor to fix your walking gait

I mean... If you sit at all when you bike other than when you down hill you're probably retarded or biking for a long duration. High intensity, fixed speed bikes, going up hill? Your quads are gonna burn friend, and more over you get an insane cardio workout. More than running will do for you but and be less tasking on your joints. You just need to do it the right way.

I've literally never seen a fat person cycling, as for jogging? MANY SUCH CASES!

>he doesn’t do hard ice skating suicides for his cardio
Never gonna make it

I've never done fencing but I assume the following:

- excellent hand eye coordination
- explosive movements, so good cardio
- thinking fast

>A decent bike = 20 mph

the 30yo boomers are the ones who already blew out their joints. I'm younger but just want to preserve what I have. Especially because shit knees run in the family

Fuck off mate Ive done every form of cardio and can say jump rope is by far the hardest endurance wise

do it man, fencing is fun as shit and has little risk of injury unlike boxing and wrestling

Think how fast he is downhill tho

>telling a guy at 285 to run

Attached: 1_114052.jpg (630x450, 48K)

I like biking, it's really easy to motivate yourself to haul ass during a commute
>stopped at a red light, I bet I can beat the car in front to that sign when it turns green
>oh the next light is green better keep going so I can make it in time
>I know there's a hill coming up, better get some momentum so I can make it up it without too much trouble
>oh shit this is steep, have to really dig to get up this hill in order to not fall over
>ah finally, flat land, GOTTA GO FAST
I run sometimes too but it's not the same, you can't really outrun cars but on a bike it's like traffic is your competition

how do i not fuck my lumbar spine while cycling /fit?

you dont go out often do you

i see more fatties jogging than i do cyclists cycling, OP is a complete spastic

eliptical?

I can't run, I suck at running. I've tried many times, I can only do HIIT and no other type of running. Buying a foldable bike was the smartest purchase I've done in my life, now cardio is actually fun and doesn't destroy my knees/feet

Do HEMA instead.

agreed. Run to keep the leanness and lift to not be a skeleton or worse skinnyfat

>Jow Forums
>anything is better than sitting around and doing nothing, you can do it

>Jow Forums refugees
>the cardio that you chose to do is a bit straining on your body therefore you will fail so don't try

Google, learn and train correct running posture. Don't go jogging entire marathons, keep it short distance and high speed. If you want variation, implement some sprinting in your runs. Use good running shoes, the kind that have strong padding for your heels. If possible, run on designated running tracks or soft land. Make sure you eat well and healthy (keep your bones and joints healthy) and NEVER overtrain.
Follow this and you won't have problems (unless genetic reasons).

Swimming is unironically the best cardio cycling makes you look like a fag

>bikerunning

200 money only gets you shit, sorry dude. get something for 150 and put the rest on the accessories. then after a year or two of constant fixing and pulling your hair, get a decent bike with a minimum budget of 600
no suspension of any kind unless you are willing to go 1000+

>cycling makes you look like a fag

do you know where you are

Swimming is great if you enjoy swallowing water that contains piss.

piss?
What about SHIT in the swimming pool
medicaldaily.com/feces-water-and-5-other-health-risks-swimming-public-pools-245996

using a swimming pool will also give you:

Asthma
Legionnaires' Disease
Athlete's Foot.
Swimmer's Ear.
Cancer

Quit being a skeletal moron.

Badass!
This guy fucks!

>carbon for 600
You mean a carbon fork right?

>gets bicycle
>looses 90lb
>cycling is bad
Nigga

>Walking is just fine for cardio.
Absolutely fucking pathetic. Walking is fine for "exercise" but it's certainly not good for cardio.

>Especially because shit knees run in the family
No one runs in your family.

You sound like a concerned mom who says squatting will ruin your knees.

If you run the right then you won't get hurt just like you won't get hurt if you squat correctly.

Recline bicycle

You will get not hurt even more on a bike.

You can buy carbon handle bars from china for 20 to 30 bucks.

There's no point to buying a carbon bike if you are in it for the fitness. Go full steel. Not even aluminium, but steel. Earn the fitness by pumping a 20kg piece of shit up every hill in your neighbourhood.

Since you go a lot faster on a bike than you run, that doesn´t change much.
A typical road cyclist does 30-35 km/h, a runner more like 10-15 km/h on a good day.
So when riding a bike for one hour, you travel about 3 times as far.
The downhill is a core exercise when done right, pic related

No, and I knew some fag was going to claim that. Nope, everyone in my family is athletic and at a healthy weight and never been fat. My father is 60 and is in better shape than most dudes in their 20s. Parents both used to do a ton of running back in the day. Now my mom just does walks and boomer gym shit and my father rides a bike every day.

What kind of bike even weights 20kg?
The heaviest cheap ass steel bike I ever owned was like 15 kg, and that was badly welded straight gauge hi-ten steel, not even cro-moly, butted or lugged.

Only important things are:
>proper gearing range
Running out of gear on a climb is hell and kills your knees.
>proper brakes
You need to slow down somehow, unbranded plastic brake levers are a bad idea.
>proper fork
Cheap suspension forks are shit and flex like crazy.
>proper tires
You need grip, want comfort and don´t want to get flats
>proper bike fit
Makes it more comfy and reduces stress on joints.

He looks like he wants it up his bum

Kek

No, that is what he tries to avoid.

must be itchy from all this sitting

>When did you realize biking was a meme and running is the only option for cardio?

Autistic beginners who think that there is only one way of doing something are the true cancer of fitness

Attached: opisafag.jpg (780x438, 90K)

>pic
That kind of person shouldn´t run, she is way too fat.
Swimming and cycling put way less strain on her joints.

If your only riding it around town get a second had fixie. Cheap enough and with minimal maintenance.

Attached: 1525295488734.png (924x560, 48K)

Don´t get a fixie, for that kind of money you can get a ridid MTB wthat has brakes and gears.

Depending on what you want to do, you can either go for a hybrid or an MBT. I have a hybrid because all I do is ride around town. It's perfect for riding on footpaths and backstreet roads, with a really comfy riding position. A MBT would also be good for footpaths and suburban riding, but they tend to be more aggressive in the riding stance. MBTs make up for this by being able to handle trails better than hybrids.

Not that guy and I agree with you completely. The problem is most people stop running as they hit puberty. Forced laps once a week at school don't count because they walk anyway.

The issue is that most people don't do it enough and don't have the gait for it. They then decide to do it in their late teens or twenties and start fucking their shit up.

Don´t forget roadbikes, they have the most agressive position and are the fastest.

Road bikes are terrible for street riding.
