It may not be very impressive or attractive, but the efficiency of it is very cool.

What the vast majority of Jow Forums doesn't understand is that when you train for the specific requirements of any given sport, you train *for that sport*, not to "look good". If you're training for a marathon or a bicycle road race, having big impressive-looking arms isn't going to make you go faster, and in fact the extra unnecessary muscle mass on your arms might actually slow you down on climbs. But the typical denizen of Jow Forums only cares about looks, not actual ability to perform, so the whole subject just gets you scoffed at.
This
Yeah, the main sport that most people in Jow Forums want to compete in is social posturing.
Actually we care about both looks and the ability to perform. However running over 100 miles isn't really as valuable in day-to-day life (or even in the case of an apocalypse) as being a mix of strong and aerobically fit.
It also isn't very healthy statistically speaking, a lot of these athletes have heart problems and some of them die on the track.
Is that rudisha?
I visit this board very sparingly. Are there even any runners on here? Like are there consistent running threads here?
It's useful if you want to run marathons or participate in ultraendurance events. Just because your goals do not parallel someone else's doesn't mean that theirs or yours are invalid.
I want to run ultramarathons AND look like Ronnie Coleman you boomer
*shrug* good luck with that then I guess.
Oh and here's a contribution
Yeah, you can definitely make the argument that consitent ultra running isn't healthy. Just like professional bodybuilding and probably world class power lifting. Doesn't Coleman have a bunch of joint issues?
Dennis Kipruto Kimetto
Ross edgley ran 30 marathons in 30 days and he is fucking huge.
People limit themselves.
You won't be as efficient, or have as great a time if you pack on the muscles, but having muscle mass complements endurance events a lot (perhaps diminishing returns with more muscle =more glycogen storage). Better cardio and endurance in muscles helps in strength training, you have better recovered with increased capillary density in the legs etc
There is some neat studies going on atm about all this.
Just, never say never, and stop putting mental blocks on something cos you haven't seen it before.
No one saw a 4 minute mile before it happened, or a 1000 pound deadlift. Now they are things that happen
>being this thin
>not having abs
yeah coz running in marathons and ultraendurance events just comes up in everyday life. you're as autistic as the guy who just does chest and bicep everyday
If I am a slow beginner who runs a 01:02:57 10k on a really hilly trail will I be okay if I attempt a 10k training program that has on average 4 hrs of running a week? Will I get injured? It has a lot of easy runs.
movescount.com
Also I am aware that my 10k probably will not be 45 at the end of the program, probably not even 50. I just want a program to do so that I am not constantly trying to figure out what to run on a certain day.
>4 hrs of running a week
My dad is like 50, and runs like 10 hours a week. What are you worried about? Just run for as long as you can on sundays and refuel
Not the best logic but okay cool. I was just being cautious since so many runners sperge out about base training to prevent injury.
The human body is designed to run, so that it could evade predators and catch prey. You shouldn't get hurt as long as you are eating properly (make sure you're not starving yourself through exercise). There is a tribe of runners (Tarahumara) that literally run while drunk and can just do it all day, every day, without eating almost any meat. Your body will be fine, just run
Sorry for the previous nonanswer hopefully this helps more
>that literally run while drunk and can just do it all day
Kek, alright thanks man.
What type of gear do these guys take?
EPO, HGH, and Test I think. I heard it's a bigger problem in ultra trail running because it's easier to get away with.
tfw i will never have muscles like a black man
T. Dyel
Leave this board, you kike fuck.
He is a previous powerlifter
Why does something have to be useful in every day life in order for it to be a worthy pursuit?
You'll be fine
He'll get hurt if he does too much too soon. If you go from 10 miles one week, to 30 miles the next week that's asking for injury. Your body needs time to adapt.
True. Working out 'only' to look good would be a mistake. I also think that Jow Forums has forgotten what the word fit even means. There is an important aspect to that and that is health. No matter what sport or exercise you do, you should aim at being and staying healthy.
kill yourself tripfag
that is me

you have to go back
david "dirt coming out of my penis" goggins
On my college track team a lot of the sprinters are in good shape. Most are ottermode and definitely have physiques that could attract women. What you guys are currently posting are guys who run biiig marathons.
Dean Karnazes is an ulra-marathon runner, and is very skinny but ripped. I guess you could call it efficient.
B O N Y
No shit. Sprinters aren't endurance athletes.
I'm so jelly of this guy. He isn't that fast but at least ultra running is literally easy mode for him. Dude is superhuman, probably has the strongest tendons in the world.
