Honestly, going to the gym and working out. In the 70's most actors who went to the gym, such as f.e. Clint Eastwood lied about going to the gym because they didn't want to be associated with what was perceived by the masses as an encompassing gay culture. They worked out in secret and when asked how they got to look how they look they answered that 'they were born that way' (lol all natty brah gud genetics)

Go to the gym, do some routines, use some machines, get some muscle on, get a nice tan, stay low bodyfat and you're good to go.

Man, I think of this a lot. Wasted most of my teenage years as vegetarian and later just not eating and sitting on the PC all day and night. It's hard not to grow resentful over it, but as long as we're correcting the path now, it's all going to be fine.

Don't run or cycle and don't spend too much time in the gym. Just do push ups and sit ups and other simple things. Eat meat and veg. Don't stress too much about being skinny. Smoke, drink if you want. Also have the right genes for it.

Most of the actors from the 60s and 70s worked out...but the classic mens physique from back in the day (think some dude in a navy uniform in WW2 workin away and lookim wirey but muscular) was from eating relatively clean and having a manual labour job. Lots of crouching, lifting, reaching, and especially twisting or slamming with your hands. The thing that stood out was usually the taut but wirey forearms from working with hands. Most guys basically looked like modern day rock climbers
