As someone who has actually lived in China (Shanghai - okay blah blah 'not real China'), Chinese people really aren't 'openly racist'. They're not 'open' at all. This is a Jow Forums fantasy. Still, while there may be an extremely small minority of girls who have a black guy fetish, the vast majority don't seem to be interested unless you're a big guy. I knew a good looking black guy who was big and 6'4 or some shit and according to him he did pretty well, but I never saw it (didn't really hang out with him though). This is nuts, Street food is the best part of food in China, everyone eats it. And gyms with a simple rack are going to be either hard to find or crazy expensive expat things.

Street food is good, but as I tried to clarify in another post, it's more about the neighbourhood. It isn't like all street food is bad, but even in Canada, some street meat can be sketchy. I also said the hotel gyms are expensive, but well equipped.

I noticed China hadn't quite got into fitness like South Korea did. SK had cheap gyms, as did China, but they weren't everywhere.

Xian is a large city, there will be plenty of gyms of every price class. From experience they won't be as cheap as you'd expect, but also not as rancid as you'd expect. Be prepared for a crazy gym crowd. You will meet a lot of thots and the men are mostly obnoxious and loud. On the good side, you will encounter lots of hilarious situations in the gym.
Food is god tier! A tip for protein rich breakfast: enjoy your jianbing (Chinese pancake) and several stewed eggs (ludan), a deep fried twisted dough stick (youtiao) and the occasional hot pocket with beef.

Xian is a modern city growing very fast.

Lots of universities so plenty of nicely dressed young qts around the place. Oddly the seem to flock in large numbers to the history museum. I think being down with the past glories of china is seen as cool these days.
