I don't think that his problem with finding someone on those was his looks, as the latter experimentations with fake accounts show. It was the way he was presenting himself. Using odd nerdy usernames such as "ElliotR1" and acting all gentemanly. He was unable to behave the way his peers did and that is why everybody of his age shunned him as being someone less intelligent, even if he was way more intelligent than most of his peers. People are idiots in that sense, that they usually interpret inexplicable difference as a sign of mental disability or mental illness.
